Not sure about over-eating, but there's some good stuff about the psychology of eating in India Knight/Nerys Thomas's book 'The Idiot Proof Diet'

It is essentially a low carb plan, but it is written by two women who followed it themselves and lost a shedload of weight (5 stone each), and is very straightforward and motivating.

Even if you don't want to do the low carb bit, it's interesting reading - try getting it from the library rather than spending the money on it.

I'm reading one by Marisa Peer - I haven't got very far yet but it all makes sense so far.

this is it It is about changing your relationship with food and as far as I have read that has meant adjusting the language you use.

I have read the India and Nerys book too. It is a good read and makes sense but I couldn't follow the diet - a bit too severe for me.
