Yay I’ve finally stopped obsessing over food

I’ve been on a diet plan for around 4 months. Prior to the diet I was absolutely fixated on food. Woke up thinking what I would eat for the day. Always wanted something indulgent. The amount of takeaways I was getting was despicable. Couldn’t drive past a drive thru without getting chips at least.

But I’ve finally realised I’ve stopped obsessing now. And it’s just naturally happened. I am not constantly shoving food into my gob all day.

Its remarkable. Something clearly pathological was going on before. I never thought I’d see the day. And it’s not like I’ve had therapy or anything. Just gave myself a plan and stuck to it.

Just sharing. I thought obsessing over food would be a lifelong struggle. But I guess the body does just need to readjust. And it does!

No offence but your post sounds like an advert / marketing 101! Describe a struggle, simple and fast solution, transformation, end with encouragement of others.

Assuming it is genuine, I am really pleased for you! Keep going!

What plan did you use?

What solution am I selling? I’ve done nothing beyond stick to a diet plan ie three balanced meals a day. No service/drugs were used. Just cooked healthy meals consistently for four months. And my cravings have actually gone. Given I once spent £400 on Deliveroo in one month I find that remarkable. I thought I would need therapy.

Just sharing a positive thing with anyone who has experienced similar

That's amazing OP. You must feel healthier and so proud of yourself. Your bank balance must be looking much healthier too. Really inspiring!

I feel so much more in control.

I really hope this can help someone who may be feeling like their cravings and food hyper fixations are unmanageable and all consuming.

I never could have imagined I could be “cured” without drugs, therapy etc.

Well done OP. Do you mind sharing if your goal was to lose weight or to just stop obsessing and eat more healthily? Either way, you must have lost some weight in 4 months on your diet plan. I believe 3 healthy meals per day without snacking in between is the best way forward for most people.

I can’t deny my initial motivation was quite superficial. I hated how I looked.

But I knew I had to work on the fact I was clearly obsessed with food. I’ve done the yo yo thing where I pick a fairly restrictive diet (keto, Atkinson etc), lose the weight and then inevitably pack it all on again.

So this time around (I have lost 30 pounds with more to go) I literally only cared about the calories. I made sure to find healthy that I actually enjoyed instead force feeding myself salads.

I still eat carbs but do my best to eat whole grain where possible (pasta excluded). But if I crave white bread like I did yesterday I allow myself to have it. But it’s not my go to. My body definitely feels healthier eating whole grain carbs.

I honestly thought I had years of therapy to unpick so much of food addiction. I previously would feel hard done by if a meal wasn’t completely indulgent.

Im so grateful my body has naturally reset. I genuinely think if my body has done it then it’s possible for everyone. Cause I was COMPLETELY addicted not too long ago.

The fact that I woke up today and didn’t go straight on Deliveroo is a testament to that
