WW or SW for DS20? Which would be a better fit for him?

Ds absolutely adores his food and has no self control (by his own admission), sadly the downfall from this is that he has gained a lot of weight over the last 2 years.

He's admitted he needs to start thinking about losing the weight. I have offered to pay for and attend meetings with him but he says atm he'd feel more comfortable trying one of the digital services.

Tbh, I've never needed to lose weight myself so it's a world I know nothing about. He doesn't want to go Keto or drop carbs or anything like that. He loves his food so wants something easy to follow that will keep him interested and not falling off the wagon too soon.

Would Weight Watchers be better then Slimming World or Vice Versa? Or are they similar to each other?

Ds has quite a bit of weight to lose so will need as much motivation as possible. I'm hoping eventually he might start going to the meetings for face to face support but he's just not quite ready for that yet.

@TheCrunchyBitsAreTheBest i did slimming world a few years ago. You can eat loads of "free food" ( vegetables, baked beans, fruit etc ) and you get allocated a certain number of points for the rest of the day. I felt like i was eating loads still

That sounds ideal, thanks.

I do slimming world and it works for me. You might get loads of replies it encourages disordered eating as it gives you the impression you can binge free foods however as long as you use a bit of common sense and not think of it as a licence to eat pasta, he'll be good with it. Yes ideally you could just eat cleanly without a system such as SW or WW, but for people who need the structure, bloke me, if helps. Just tell him not to bother sunning squashed bananas!

Ah, brilliant, I will keep that in mind. Thanks.

I too do SW and as above, as long as you dont get the idea that you can still eat a packet of pasta at a time, it works

It encourages home cooking and has a huge data base of recipes that are SW friendly. So for instance last night we still had great big doner kebabs , they were home made and classed as a free food - wholemeal Pita, piles of salad , hm doner meat using 5% mince . The only "syns" were the chilli sauce . I could have made SW chips in the air fryer as well which are also a free food.

We eat curries, chips, bolognaise - normal meals - but cooked from scratch , not jars

Id encourage going to group, the support there is second to none. And men do so well in group. They are welcomed and encouraged and part of the family as much as women , there really is no judgment at all
