Weight Loss Before TTC

Hi all,

I am looking for some advice on how to start my weight loss journey before I attempt to try to have a baby.
Like many, I have always struggled with my weight, I have fluctuated dramatically. I have been a size 8 and I am currently an 18.
However you'd think if id lost the weight before I can do it again... I did it so unhealthily last time (dropping 6 stone in a matter of months at uni) I genuinely think I've messed with the wiring of my brain and I am struggling so much to eat better/exercise.
Each month goes by and I just get bigger.

I hold my hands up and rely on the dopamine kick that food gives me for sure.

I know everything there is to know about diets and nutrition, but I just can't seem to start.. I almost dread it.
You'd think having a big event, holidays, trying for a baby would kick me up the arse but its almost like im mentally stuck in a vicious cycle.

Weightloss jabs etc are off the table, due to finances.

BUT if anyone has been in the same position as me and gotten through this brick wall I have, id be so appreciative of anything thats helped!

I would love to come back to this post with updates on how im doing!

I'm tapering down from WLI and have liquid berberine on its way for when I come off. It's meant to lower blood sugar and suppress appetite. No idea if it works for everyone but it's worth a try.
What is your diet like and do you track your food? High protein and low carb definitely makes a difference. If you use myfitnesspal app to log your food, it gives you a calorie daily deficit to stick to which gives you more control than not logging food. Another supplement worth trying is L tyrosine as it converts to dopamine so if you are lacking it and relying on food for it, that may help. It really helps me to suppress appetite.

I understand completely - I get periods where I have craved food so badly and binged and put on weight.

Maybe it is worth taking small steps. I know loosing weight can be daunting, so maybe take small steps leading to bigger steps is the key? Sometimes just curving the cravings is better than not doing anything at all.

For instance, you could make sure you are drinking enough water, and by drinking one glass (500ml) of water before each meal can mean you are not as hungry. That has worked for me in the past to slow down how much I ate. This in itself helped me loose one or two pounds, that gave me a little hope to start with the other parts of the diet.
