Anyone used a walking pad and been effective for weight loss?

Just that really. I've just purchased a walking pad. I struggle to get enough steps in outdoors, I have an anxiety disorder and struggle to l ave the house unless it's absolutely necessary. But I'm very very overweight and have been most of my life. I've started calorie counting and trying my hardest to be in a calorie deficit. I don't want to fail this time. I feel I would be able to happily use said walking pad for an hour a day if not more in the comfort of my own home. Anyone got one and had some results

If you are controlling your calories and then moving more on the walking pad then you'll absolutely lose weight. Good for you for exploring options that work for you!

There are some good YouTube workouts called Walk at Home, they are low impact and great to start with, you don’t need a walking pad to try them.

Can you get outside for a walk during hours when there’s no one around? There are huge benefits to walking outside, especially in nature. This could also maybe be a step in confronting your anxiety (been there, done that)

Good luck 🍀

No, the only thing that worked for me was mounjaro

It would be very good for your general mobility and helping to 'future proof' your joints but it wont burn many calories.
If you can afford it though and think you will use it then walking more is always going to be a good investment for your health.

I have an exercise bike and mini stepper I use at home and manage to get in 5 days of cardio a week. Really makes me feel better both physically and mentally.
Id love a walking pad for shitty weather days though!😁

If you're not very active then increasing your steps will be good for your health in lots of ways. Combined with a (realistic and sustainable) calorie deficit you will lose weight.

Take it slowly, build up gradually. I use my walking pad when the weather is bad or if I can't get out of the house. Sometimes I do 5/10 mins here or there throughout the day, it doesn't have to be a solid hour in one go.

Calorie deficit is going to be the main driver for continued weight loss. Are you using an app like My Fitness Pal? Watch your macros too.

Exercise can help, but it's biggest benefits are to preserve muscle and support metabolism especially while dieting and to keep the weight off longer term.

Steps and strength training are you best bets starting out - I've had treadmills before and they are deathly boring and were soon gathering dust - I try to get outdoors somewhere quiet and put headphones on to zone out those around me - I do it in normal day wear (jeans) so I don't look like I am exercising, but just heading somewhere. If I get stuck indoors I put on some quick music and walk from the front to back door - did it today at lunchtime and did 3,000 steps in 30m.

Look up body weight strength training with zero equipment, or invest in some dumbbells (many use resistance bands which are much cheaper but I could never get comfortable with them)

Since when did a treadmill become a walking pad. My 'walking pad' is sadly starting to collect dust.

Calorie deficit is the key op. The walking won’t really do much for weight loss, but it will have some effect and it is way better than sitting on the sofa. So definitely get moving, good luck,

Walking will help, better on an incline. Jabs are all very well but they aren’t building strength and improving mobility. You need to move!
I’ve lost weight walking and so has DM (when she was peri).

A walking pad is usually literally just the bit you walk on, no big bulky screen and handles. So easier to store, though usually not as powerful as a full treadmill.

Not sure why people are saying it won’t help. If you’re in a calorie deficit and moving more then of course it will help.
