Hi there
does anyone have any recommendations for appetite suppressants?

I just want something to help stop the food noise that I struggle with daily !
I don’t want any weight loss injections. Thank you

I’d personally avoid any tablet that markets itself as an appetite suppressant as most don’t work and those that do can be harmful. Water is your friend as a few glasses can make you feel full and sometimes the food noise is actually thirst! I find chia pudding works really well in keeping you feeling full and there is a recent thread on here about it that is very informative.

Can I ask why not weight loss injections? Basically it’s the only thing that actually works. Everything else is smoke mirrors and placebo. If there was anything else that actually worked, we’d all be taking it.

Agree with PP after 30 years of trying to diet, only mounjaro has worked for me as an appetite suppressant, sorry but its the truth.
Anything else that markets itself as such is snake oil, from someone who has bought all the snake oil over the years.

It'll just be dodgy speed. I went to this shifty doctor from an advert in the back of the paper about 25 years ago. He gave me some kind of speed that has been outlawed in the UK. 😐
It did work and it didn't affect me that badly as I used a fair bit of (poor quality) coke back then. I only had one month's and didn't go back.

But it's not good for you and you can't do it long term. It can send you doolally. There was one woman in there crying her eyes out screaming that she couldn't sleep!

@DiscoBob ,oh god yeah I forgot about the speed!, back in the nineties everyone had immaculate kitchens because they were all up at 3 o clock in the morning cleaning lol, my sil included, that's something I never took it though, the state of some of my friends on that was enough to put me off.

Haha. Not even the speed could make me clean. I just used to start doing some weird art project then forget about it ten minutes later, leaving a massive mess. It helped a bit when I was working in sales though. 🤣😐 Dodgy stuff right? X

@CHATTY264 ,What side effects specifically? Obviously there are side effects for some people, but for most people they are easily dealt with, it's mainly a bit of nausea, constipation, all easily combated. If you are contemplating mounjaro, buy now, as its due to increase in price massively on the 1st of September. I'm 3 and a half stones down in six months, and I feel fantastic.

It can stop you sleeping and eating enough and make you act a bit wired, so yeah, not a good plan. Are you too slim for WLI? If not I'd say give it a try. If after one injection it makes you feel unwell just stop?

I've heard some people using hypnotherapy for food noise? No idea if it works though.

But you are not worried about the side effects of oral meds?

SilenceInside · 18/08/2025 17:34

There is MySimba which is a tablet, prescription-only, which you can get via online pharmacies. But the list of side effects is similar, and possibly longer, than for the weight loss injections and it is less effective - the average weight loss when taking Mysimba is 8.1% after 56 weeks of treatment. Wegovy was 14.9% after 68 weeks, and Mounjaro was 22.5% after 72 weeks on the highest dose.

Don’t worry you won’t be alone in refusing prescription meds due to anxiety, I think it is common albeit a minority, however it does mean you aren’t going to find anything else, as a pp said it’s just over the counter stuff that does not work.

maybe you could look into low carb and high protein, that can curb your appetite. Good luck, I hope you find your solution.

Keto will reduce your diet, significantly. If not keto, restricting carbs and intermittent fasting.
