Hi! I’ve been on Mounjaro for a couple of months and have been really successful with it, I’m still on 2.5g and comfortable with this, my husband now wants to start so to split the cost we are planning on me ordering a 5g and taking half a dose each. Now I know we shouldn’t do this but I just want to know if anyone on here has had any experiences of doing this. Thanks

Seeing as everyone on here on Mounjaro seems to order extra needles and use pliers to get an extra dose, I can't see why this would be an issue!

Not me, I never have!

Just out of interest and not being goady or dumb but how is it different to having unprotected sex and catching and infections, virus etc

You’re right, still a risk in those situations too but much greater risk with direct blood contact - even if you change the needle, the injection solution can still be contaminated. It’s just not a good thing to do. I work in a hospital and it’s an absolute no, not to mention the risks of the fact the medicine is prescribed for you and might not be clinically appropriate or safe for your DH.

I mean I would, definitely, but as others have said I wouldn’t use the needles that come with it. I’d be using an insulin needle (similar to those that extract the fifth dose). This will reduce the risk of cross contamination- it is possible that some bodily fluids would go back into the pen with the other needles.

some information about not sharing insulin pens, same theory for Mounjaro.

Sharing pens and the risk of injecting bacteria from someone else deep into the skin is very different from unprotected sex
