So upset with myself

I’ve worked so hard since Christmas to get the last of the weight off. About 7 kg until goal weight.

By Easter I’d lost 5 kg. A few people who hadn’t seen me in a while commented that I looked good. And most importantly, I felt great. Clothes felt good on and I felt a lot better in myself. Less bloated. And so close to the goal I’ve been aiming for about 5 years!!

Since the end of April I’ve been on two holidays, and had a stressful time at work. I’ve been drinking a bit more and having a few too many fuck it moments. And not weighing myself either.

This morning I stepped on the scales. I’ve put on 4kg.

Words of advice and encouragement would be great to hear!!

You've done it before and you can do it again. Posh soups are your friend. Don't just have half a pot though, have the whole lot so you're actually full but still only having about 350 calories.

Don’t beat yourself up about it. This is very very common because losing weight is hard. Just get back to it. Maybe what you were doing before was too restrictive and that’s why you crashed out?
I am doing Noom and I would highly recommend it. There’s a lot of psychological stuff in the daily ‘lessons’ and it takes away the guilt and anxiety feelings around weight loss. There is no blame.
I find it nudges me in the right direction to make lots of small changes that add up to a significant difference. It’s stopped me from two things I often do: becoming obsessed and depressed about dieting, and having fuck it moments.
I’m losing weight steadily and slowly but it’s sustainable (worried about my holiday in a week though!). I’ve lost eight pounds in 2 months.

Totally hear you on this op! I had very painstakingly lost around 10lbs this year, it has been very up and down with tiny overall losses. It was my birthday 10 days ago and the day before I was my lowest weight this year, under 11 stone for the first time in bloody ages. Cue a weekend of birthday treats, then struggled to get back on the plan, then last Friday I had a dreadful sinus infection, antibiotics have made me feel exhausted and now I think I may have Covid! And ffs, weighed myself and I am 162lbs again! That means I went from 153 on 18th July, to 162 yesterday. That can’t actually be physically possible! I could cry, it’s so frustrating.

Congratulations on your weight loss, OP. I find YouTubers/podcasters create a good virtual community when trying to change behaviour around weight loss, budgeting, language learning, whatever. Phoebe Cartwright (Fat Loss Fundamentals) is good (YouTube and podcasts), as is DanielJRStretch (YouTuber).. They're both really down to earth, good at reminding you about consistency in eating habits and exercise, lots of good content on workouts and motivation. You know what you need to do, you said it in your own post: weigh yourself regularly, don't let a celebration dinner turn. into a whole weekend, drink your water, eat your protein and veg, do your steps and workouts, plan your meals and create a calorie deficit around days that you know you're going to be going off-piste on the diet.

Cut out the booze for a month and you’ll be surprised how much easier it is to get rid of the extra weight.

@Treadly Op- I find myself in a similar boat to you. How are you doing a year on?!!

What are posh soups?

Oh I basically mean fresh soups rather than tins of soup. They are usually 600ml and meant to serve two, but I just have the whole lot. Some of them are low calorie (200-300 kcal for the whole pot), filling and with more adventurous flavours than just vegetable.
