Hello
Does anyone reccomend any tried and tested exercises for kick starting post partum weightless?
I had a C section too.

congrats on baby! 3 months PP is quite early to do anything significant. I think one of the very best things is to get out walking with the pram. If you really want to do more, have you had a look at any local classes specifically for post partum, like Sweaty Mama? After about 6 months pp, I also found Gillian Michael's exercise dvd really good - Hot Body Healthy Mommy I think it's called.

Thank you!!! Yes maybe you're right. Walking definitely is a good one. I just see all these people getting their pre baby bodies back within 7 months (Krissy Cela for eg) and I feel i should be doing something more!! Will check out the classes thanks x

It really depends on what your exercise etc was like pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy & what your birth was like. I run & strength train so with my daughter I was doing both consistently right up until I gave birth which meant that I picked it up again 5-6ish weeks postpartum- I was only able to safely do that because I’d continued throughout pregnancy really my body was still used to it. My current pregnancy I’m 5 months and still gym/running, hoping to do the same again. If you weren’t active through your pregnancy though I’d be really careful starting anything strenuous postpartum, I agree with PP about lots of pram walking, I had lost 90% of my baby weight before I even started training again just from general life/walking! X

It’s difficult to advise because I’ve never had a c-section but I started with Les Mills post partum exercises -I’ve had their subscription for years and I also exercises throughout pregnancy, just adapting the effort to how I felt. The LM post partum section is very good, with options shown without a baby, with a pram and with a baby in an ergo.

If you have muscle separation (diastatis recti) or pelvic floor issues I cannot recommend hypopressives high enough, they are magic! There’s an excellent YouTube channel called hypopressives with Alice, the beginner playlist is super easy.

I would get all clear to exercise from your doctor. I don’t know what you can or can’t do after a c section, my baby is 3.5 months old and I could already get back to my normal training at 6 weeks pp, after very slowly starting a couple of days after birth with some easy post-partum workouts and then slowly increasing the intensity.

Fitness starts in the gym
Weightloss starts in the kitchen.

I ate the same standard breakfast every day with macros calculated. I weighed it every day for about a month then would spot checl weights once I knew what a portion looked like

Snacks were proportioned and cal controlled or carrots / baby tomatoes

Lunch and dinner were protein and veg.

Desserts were portion / cal controlled halo icecream

2-3liters a day

Exercise is great for body shape and mental health though.
I walked the baby in the pram for naps and did 12500-20000 steps per day. Started actual exercise classes about 5months pp i joined a David lloyd club just while on mat leave (they have a creche)

7 months is definitely possible, I have three children and even when I wasn’t exercising, just regular walks, 7 months has been a reasonable time for me to get back into shape with each pregnancy. I’m definitely not a celebrity.

I agree with PP saying that a lot depends on how active you were during pregnancy, if you kept exercising, especially your core, you can get back to exercising either whenever you feel like it, or when you get all-clear after a c-section.

Do you want to lose weight as well or just get fit? For the first you need a combination of eating well and staying active to get the results you want.
