PCOS - Weight Loss Plateau – 3 Stone to Go, don’t want injections

Hi all,

I’m really hoping someone here can relate or share what’s helped them – I feel a bit stuck and disheartened.

I’m trying to lose weight to support my fertility and hopefully conceive again after a recent miscarriage (fourth baby loss). It’s been a really emotional time, and I’m trying to focus on healing and giving my body the best possible chance when we try again. We do have one little boy and want another baby.

I have PCOS, so weight loss has always been hard. I’m currently 5ft 3 and 14st 5lbs, so my BMI is around 36. I’ve already made some positive changes and seen some progress, but I’ve now hit a total plateau. I’m in a steady calorie deficit, eating well (mostly whole foods, lower sugar, high fibre and protein), and exercising regularly – but the scales won’t budge. I’ve got around three stone to lose, and I’d love to see just a few pounds drop to feel like something’s working.

I’m also managing thyroid issues (previously hyperthyroid/thyrotoxicosis, now stable on levothyroxine) and taking a range of supplements and meds to support fertility:
• Ovasitol
• Metformin
• CoQ10
• Omega 3
• Levothyroxine
• Folic acid
• Iron
• Pregnacare pre-conception
• Probiotic

I don’t want to take injections Mountjaro or Ozempic – I really want this to be sustainable and to feel strong, healthy and ready for another pregnancy. Also anxious about side effects and long term impacts - so please don’t suggest them. But I feel like I’m doing all the right things and getting nowhere.

Has anyone with PCOS (or thyroid issues) broken through a plateau like this? Would love to hear what helped you – or just know I’m not alone in this.

Thanks so much for reading

x

We’ll done for losing weight by being determined to do it naturally. I’ve just commented on a diet injection subject. I don’t believe that they’re the answer and we don’t fully know what the effects of these are going to be.

The diet injections not only reduce fat but also reduce muscle, so 40% of weight loss is muscle, which is why some celebrities look bloody awful, Sharon Osbourne, Robbie Williams 🤢.

I had weight increase as soon as menopause hit, I hadn’t done anything different at all. I’ve opted for HRT which I’ve found to be marvellous as well as Testosterone, but still couldn’t shift the weight and

I’ve never been a big eater but was a stone overweight. I’m only 5’ 3” and weighed 10st 7lbs and was completely uncomfortable. I came across intermittent fasting and it’s amazing. After 2 years I’m down to the weight I was in my 30’s I’m 58, I’ve lost a stone. The first couple of weeks were difficult around breakfast time, having to wait a few more hours before eating, but I’m used to it now, and to be honest the little tummy rumbles are refreshing, how often do our stomachs rumble these days 🤷‍♀️

This eating regime is something I find easy to follow and it’s beneficial for your body. Your body naturally burns fat whilst your asleep, and no snacking after dinner, this gives your body extra time to start your metabolism boost. I started with the 16 hour fasting which is very disciplined, I’ve now dropped that to 14 hours. I eat healthily and stop when I’m full, the Japanese eat until 80% full and tend not to be overweight, unlike western society.

Hey sorry for being so late replying. Is fast 800 safe with fertility?
