Pedometer Club 2005 - week 2

MadameButterfly · 17/01/2005 10:13

Hi everyone.

I have received 3 emails so far, so here are the results I have.

Madame Butterfly 64690
Coppertop 50697
Posey 40416
Bozza 27886

Well done everyone, keep up the good work.

I tend to wear my pedometer from the minute I get dressed until I get ready for bed, so absolutely everything gets counted, even just around the house.

I find it's mucvh easier in the summer anyway when you actually want to get out and walk. At the moment it seems like such a faff to get 2 DSs and me all wrapped up like eskimos just to go to the corner shop or something - and not inclination to walk anywahere just for the sake of it!

coppertop · 19/01/2005 19:05

I must admit that I've been staying indoors when it's been really cold. I even opted for the convenience of the corner shop rather than walk to the supermarket that's about a mile away. It was only for a couple of things I'd run out of though - not the whole week's shopping.

Earlybird · 19/01/2005 23:04

First half of my day was good - had done almost 8,000 by noon (took a long walk to the shops when the sun was out), but the afternoon/evening was a disaster (gloomy, overcast, gusty wind) as I didn't leave the flat. Certainly not as easy to get respectable totals when the weather is crap.

Gwenick · 20/01/2005 08:15

earlybird - gosh now I'm seriously embarassed - only clocked up around 5150 all day - and I did go out!

Bozza · 20/01/2005 08:37

I think yoyo is the really impressive one - six figures. I had a very bad day yesterday because it was a work day (so sat at the desk all day) and then in the evening when I might have had chance to do something DD decided to go to bed at 9.30 instead of 7.30 (think she's teething) and then I was so knackered I just went to bed too.

yoyo · 20/01/2005 10:32

I am enjoying walking and wearing the pedometer definitely makes me more active. Not doing well today though as drove girls to school and DS is being awful so am not inclined to take him out. If the rain holds off I suppose I could vent my anger by pacing around the village. To make matters worse I am in dire need of chocolate which I have been avoiding so will I be able to resist popping in to shop? I won't take cash. Problem solved. Oh the meandering mind of a sleep- and chocolate-deprived woman!

coppertop · 20/01/2005 10:38

Me too, Gwenick. I don't think I've done more than 6,000 steps in a single day this week - and I don't have a car which means I have to walk everywhere. Eeek!

Bozza · 20/01/2005 10:43

LOL Yoyo. My best day so far was Sunday when we went shopping to Leeds - so shopping is not all bad. Although also took children for a walk in the morning which probably helped. Shopping trip though went wrong when DD needed her bottle which led us to a cafe which led DH to buying 3 danish pastries.....

yoyo · 20/01/2005 10:54

Bozza - Danish pastries eh? Sound great to me.

Bozza · 20/01/2005 10:56

Only had one of them honest! And gave DD my cream.

MadameButterfly · 20/01/2005 13:03

Hi everyone,

How are you all doing this week?

I am about 5,000 over target at the moment so I should beat my total for last week, but I don't think I will get anywhere near yoyp's total. That was seriously impressive.

OP posts:
coppertop · 20/01/2005 13:12

I haven't been out as much this week so my total will be lower. Bad weather and lots of appointments/meetings means that I haven't had time to walk any great distance.

Just re-read that and it sounds so feeble!

yoyo · 20/01/2005 15:12

Well I made myself go out and ended up more or less doing the school route so back on track. Will walk to collect too which will really please DD2 (major tantrum about this yesterday).

Had some chocolate though...

Keep up the good work ladies.

Earlybird · 20/01/2005 15:21

Good for you yoyo. I've been out and about today, but find that I don't do as well when my activities require going long distances (requiring public transport). I do much better if I stay local and can walk wherever I need to go. I've been all over London today (Islington, Chelsea, Fulham, Victoria, and even a brief Oxford Street stop), but have only reached 4200 so far as I've been on the tube or bus so much. I'm home now, with no need to go out again.....and as the weather looks threatening, I'm probably home for the day. Oh well, looks like 10,000 steps today isn't likely!

Gwenick · 20/01/2005 19:17

Having a 'slighly' better day today - up to 6300 - so 'may' manage to edge close to 7000 if I'm 'adventurous' - lots of trips to the kitchen to top up on cranberry juice LOL
