why am i not losing any weight?

went to see a hypnotist (crazy, i know) but it has been a real help and i am now eating like a friggin' foodie saint. smaller portions, fruit, veg, salads, loads of water, no crisps, chocolate, the whole shebang. the primary reason was to improve my diet and hypnotist gave really sensible advice which i am following and am also finding it relatively easy (maybe that's the hypnosis working, who knows)

but is it too much to expect to lose some weight in a week and a half? have only lost 1 pound. i am definetely eating less calories and eating less in general, but not starving myself, so why the disappointment when i weigh myself? i have about 4 stone to lose so it should be dropping off a lot quicker than this!

Weigh once a week only, don't obsess daily if you can help it.

Try to cut down on bread/pasta/potatoes if you have not done so already.

Exercise ?

I see you are already drinking more water, so you are on the right track.

Stick with it, I feel your pain (have lost 30 lbs since January doing small plate and low carb)it's Not Easy.

How much less than normal are you eating? to my knowledge if you cut down drastically on your food portions your body thinks its going into starvation mode and clings to each pound.

Fantastic that you are now cutting out the junk this will undoubtedly make a difference, drink lots of water and also EXCERCISE! sorry to shout but its the only way to loose weight, I've lost five and a half stone over the last four years despite two pregnancies.

Good luck, be kind to yourself and don't expect results overnight.

slow and steady wins the race

i have cut down on portions but am careful to not cut down too much, am snacking on fruit to keep things going

what i ate yesterday

small bowl no added sugar museli with semi skimmed milk
salad with egg, chicken, avocado, lettuce, cucumber, no dressing
banana
tiny handful choc covered raisins and 1 choc covered brazil nut
cup of tea, no sugar
fish, new baby potatoes, asparagus
a few glasses of water throughout the day

normally at lunch will have brown bread sandwich with salad and usually eat at least 3 pieces of rruit per day. oh, and i usually get one cup of green tea a day down my neck as well.

am fairly active day to day, don't drive so walk DS to nursery each day and back before work, but could do with upping the exercise. this was meant to be stage 2 as i got used to things, but will maybe need to introduce it quicker. like cycling and go for rides as a family sometimes at weekends. also, my privare med insurance allows me free gym membership if i go to the gym twice a week at least.

am a full time working mum so find it hard to find the time plus do chores etc, but must banish the excuses. managed to pick up a pair of trainers in JJ Sports for £7 at the weekend, so it must be fate!

Have you counted the calories in your diet?

Your diet sounds good, and I can't work the calories out so I'm not sure, but usually if you're not losing weight it's because you're taking in too many calories, regardless of how healthy the food is.

You may be eating enough to maintain (or lose slowly) but for your weight you should eat a certain amount of cals in order to lose.

It's great that you're eating healthily and if you keep it up you may find that over a long period of time you'll see a good weight loss, but for 'proper'weight loss you should keep a check on the calories.

That includes all the fruit, milk ect.

Try it and see if that's the problem. If not adn your calories are within then it may just be that it's taking a bit longer to register, and it'll come off soon!

I'm no expert but having lost a couple of stone with Slimming World, would reccommend a look at their website. They have a free 7 day plan there. The idea with them is that you don't eat meat/fish with carbs but if you eat veggie, you can eat pasta, rice, potatoes etc. They sample plan gives ideas for both sorts of days - one day veggis (Green day) and one day eat (Original day)

So,e.g. with your food diary you could have had the fish with the vegetables but no potatoes. Avacados are very calorific as well.

limmng World does sound a bit complicated at first but, once you get the hang of it ater a week or so, it's easy and I've found myself eating much more healthily as a result
