I have about 9 stone to lose and I need to make some changes now!!

According to the NHS BMI calculator I am in the obese category and need to lose just over 9 stone to be at the top end of the healthy weight category 😬 Losing that much weight will be extremely difficult and will take years…
Having a quick look on Google it looks like it is realistic to lose 2 stone in 14-28 weeks so I am going to say that I will be happy if I have lost a stone by the end of August and 2 stone by December!! Obviously I will still have a long way to go even if I do achieve these goals but I think it is import to set realistic goals so that I can stay motivated and stick to it 🤞

I am going to start with 2-3 weeks of slimfast and then try to plan snacks and meals that match the slimfast calories once I am used to eating less. I am also going to try and start exercising and aim to start with half an hour 2-3 times a week and build it up as I get used to it.

I am so unhappy with now much weight I have gained, how I look and how I feel and I need to make some changes now!!

Buffets may be my favourite food/meal 🙈😂

We've ordered a Gousto box with pan fried basa in tomato sauce with roast potatoes, chicken fajitas, posh hotdogs with chips, spaghetti bolognaise and peri peri tofu burgers in the hopes that having everything pre-portioned will help!! We had Shepard's pie last night and we will be starting the Gousto meals tonight 😊

Gousto and green chef are great and so much better than takeaways and ready meals. The portions are generous, I often get 3 portions out of 2 meals and take the spare to work for lunch.
The best way to keep full and burn fat is to eat more protein nd drink more water, eating more protein and less carbs like pasta and bread etc switches the body from using glucose to fat for energy.

I started mounjaro in October and I had insulin resistance issues amd struggled to lose weight before and my bmi is now 25.9. Only recently found out I've been prediabetic for years which has been reversed. It's the only thing that helped stabilise my blood sugars, it also lowers blood pressure and reduces systemic inflammation, my ibs has been fully resolved and its also going to be used in treating heart disease, alzheimers, parkinsons and has also been shown to significantly reduce risk of developing cancers.
You don't have to be on it forever, a lot do come off it when reach their goal and the use exercise and healthy eating to successfully maintain their weight without regaining.
I am a registered nhs health professional and can understand if its not for you but you know its there if you decide in future to try it. Millions have used it safely now, most of the side effects are due to type of food eaten or too high a dose. Any serious cases have been due to illegally obtained mounjaro which doesn't contain it or undisclosed health conditions.
Good luck in your weight loss journey!

The only fizzy drink I had all week was a Coke Zero and I usually had full sugar Coke/Dr Pepper ect. every day!! 🙈 Other than that all what I have drank is dilute juice and water 🤗

What does fasting do? Do you lose weight because you’re eating less meals or is it something about the actual fasting??

I definitely need to start walking more!!

Re fasting, I haven't researched the science but there's loads of studies on why it works. The 15 hour fast - of which half of it is you sleeping - is probably the least harsh fasting routine.

Yes you're eating less food because you are cutting out evening snacks, but I think it's more about giving your stomach and digestion system a break too which I think makes everything work better, rather than always being in the process of digesting food.

I’m having a really weird day today. I haven’t felt hungry all day… I drank a slimfast with a bit of extra milk at about 5pm as I was conscious that I hadn’t had anything but it took me ages to drink it. Tea is a fish stew and it’s only 473 calories per serving so I’m going to try and have a tin of sweetcorn with it which will take it up to 689 calories but that will make the entire day 986 calories which is obviously too low… I might try and have a snack or a yogurt or something if I feel like I can 🤔
I really hope I’m not getting sick 😬

I weighed myself again this morning (a bit soon but I wanted to see if there had been any progress since Sunday) and I’ve lost another 2-3 pounds!! I stepped on and off the scale a few times and it kept changing between a loss of 2-3 pounds so I have put 2 pounds into myfitnesspal as I don’t want to over estimate, get it wrong and be disappointed next time. But that means that altogether I have lost 5 pounds in about 10 days!! 😁

That's incredible, well done! It sounds like you're making good choices too - bulking up meals with extra veg tends to mean I don't go hunting for a less healthy snack later.

I find smoothies good for when I don't feel hungry too.

1.5lbs off for me this week, not mad at that at all! Smile

Thing is 1000 calories isn’t too low.

After doing the Fast 800 for 3 months you realise what you do need ( and what is just surplus).
Its about getting sufficient nutrients which you do have to think about on 800 calories.

So the fish stew with spinach for more iron would be less calories but more nutrients than sweetcorn. But you would also then be able to have some olives which have healthy fats.

Also I found if you stuck to the same foods so you aren’t fixated on what to have next it’s a bit like a physiological weight loss jab ! You do lose the food noise.

Anyway well done on 5lbd.

It feels very weird eating an entire tin of peas or sweetcorn but it’s so much better than eating lots of unhealthy snacks isn’t it? 😁

Smoothies are a great idea for next time, thank you!!

Well done to you as well!! 🥳

Myfitnesspal says to have a minimum of 1000-1200 calories a day 🤷‍♀️

I don’t think I could eat olives but I do understand what you mean 😁

I think the Gousto box is helping with that as we now have 5 meals that we have to have!!

Thank you 😁

@ReallyNeedToLoseWeightNow

Well done on another 2 lbs down.

I know what you are saying re the apps staying 1000 -1200. The thing is you, me and all the other overeaters don’t need more reasons to finish off that last spoonful or slice of something.

The trick for us is to feel ok with just enough. To feel ok being a little bit hungry because theres food later. Learning that shifts the fat we’ve got now and stops it coming back.
The Fast 800 worked for me because it literally said “ don’t eat very much”. A revelation in a world if “you don’t want to get an eating disorder” or “you need to eat more fo keep your metabolism high”. I like excess. I will never be anorexic and I think an all I can eat buffet is a chance to try everything on offer.

How is this week going, @ReallyNeedToLoseWeightNow?

Edited

I wasn’t well from Friday-Wednesday so I didn’t each much and then when I did eat it was just bread. I had a bit more yesterday but still felt a bit weird… I think I’m okay today so I will get back it properly tomorrow as I’ve only had a bread roll so far today 🤷‍♀️ When I weighed myself either yesterday or the day before I still weighed the same so it doesn’t seem to have changed much 🤷‍♀️

Aren't you on slimfast?

I am but I wasn’t eating anything for breakfast or lunch when I was unwell and then I thought it would be best to avoid dairy for a few days when I started feeling better

You might like to look at clear protein drinks for times like these, and in fact to up your protein intake every day. The role of enough protein in losing weight is so important.
