How long for a week off to show?

I've been dieting and exercising fairly stringently for a family wedding. The wedding was a week ago, and as soon as it was over I decided to have a week off. Now I've been eating OMAD, running five miles five times a week, doing a one hour spin class five times a week and three half hour Pilates sessions per week for four months up to the wedding, watching calories etc like a hawk. I lost four pounds (got to 9 stone 2lbs). On my week off I went running twice, did one spin session for half an hour and basically ate everything I could see (and I have quite a wide field of vision....)

I weighed myself this morning to find out the worst. And I'm still 9 stone 2. So how long will it take for my week off to show on the scales? From today I'm back to my usual exercise and diet regime, maybe cutting myself a little more slack, but I need to know whether there's going to be a sudden huge increase that I need to work harder to get rid of?

Unfortunately it’s just not that clear cut, I had a weekend off 4 months into my diet and I still lost weight then I had a good but relaxed Christmas eating out a few times but trying to be healthier and gain 5 LBs 3 weeks later.

Why does it work this way though? I mean, undereat by 3500 calories in a week and you'll lose a pound in a week. If people had to wait for several weeks for their deficit to show then most people would give up dieting, surely? So there must be time limit in which extra calories can show up as weight - it's not going to be six weeks before I see the result of my 'falling off the wagon'is it? How would that work?

I don't follow the logic to this but SW said the scales reflected what you ate 4 days ago.

Thank you, that seems logical. It might take a while for the food to be assimilated I guess - some is going to go straight through, some might be used for energy and the spare will go into storage.
