Wtf don't get her a diet magazine!!
Get her some nice perfume, or body oil, something that will make her feel nice that's nothing to do with her weight.

fluffiphlox · 15/05/2025 14:21

No thank you to all of that.

UniversalTruth · 15/05/2025 14:23

First response gets my vote.

Nothing like reminding someone that they are overweight on their birthday.

Allseeingallknowing · 15/05/2025 14:30

From the title I was a expecting it to continue to “in a turnstile” “ in the toilet” etc
Sorry!

Has she got a clothes shop she likes and perhaps a voucher to buy something new from there?

User37482 · 15/05/2025 21:16

Why not something that has nothing to do with her size but still pampering, rituals etc?

the person thinking of getting someone struggling to lose weight A SLIMMING MAGAZINE for their birthday is calling out others for being nasty! particularly when nobody said anything particularly mean at all.

Since your feelings are already hurt I'll point out:

a - who even reads print magazines anymore
b - a magazine is a shit present for a birthday. It's the complete opposite of a "fun" present, it's probably up there with socks as one of the most boring presents out there
c - it's also not a useful one. You really think she's going to read a copy of good health and go "Wow! Cake has lots of calories! I never knew that! Well that will make all the difference, I'll stop eating three cupcakes a day and will be seven stone by christmas.
d - a slimming magazine for someone struggling to lose weight is the height of bitchiness

Todaywasbetter · 15/05/2025 21:38

you must be so bored. hope you feel better now.

Troll?

I would have loved it if someone paid for a week of Cambridge diet ( called 1:1 now I think) for me when I was trying to lose weight. Seriously! Wouldn’t have taken offence at all if I was open about it to my close friends and family and they knew I was trying and interested in things but the ‘things’ were expensive!

Only you will know if she would take it as a slight or not if you are being serious about the question you’ve asked here.
