10 weeks to shift the pounds

Addicted2Sugar · 12/05/2025 21:21

Got a holiday booked for the beginning of August, think it's actually 11 weeks away but 10 seems a nice round number for a challenge.

My head keeps saying, just 2lbs a week you can lose that no problem. That would be 20lbs. BUT I don't seem able to do it. I try week after week. I lose 2 or 3 pounds and it goes back on at the weekend. I don't feel that I go crazy at the weekend. Isn't it something like you need to consume 3500 extra calories to put a pound on! I must really inhale those calories at the weekend.

So I am going to do the following for the next 10 weeks...

Track everything
Keep carbs low
Aim for calorie deficit of 300 minimum a day but hope for 500 a day
Drink 1.5 litres a day
Try and convince my head that I am on a weight loss injection and appetite less
I have an injured leg so can't batter the exercise but aiming for minimum 6000 steps a day.
Cut out all nighttime sofa snacking

Anything else I could be doing/watching?
I am very aware that I have so much diet info spinning round my head I don't know if I am coming or going.

Anyone had a really good 10 week success story to motivate me with?

I've also realised part of the problem is I have a full length mirror in the bathroom with some kind of magical powers, and it makes me look thinner than I actually am!!

So each day I look at myself and think oh I don't look too bad actually, then when I stay away for work I see myself in the hotel mirrors and get quite the reality check.

Needspaceforlego · 15/05/2025 06:13

The mirror 🪞 is funny.

Today's aim is to get lots of protein. A couple of years ago I went on some sort of diet and lost muscle rather than fat.

Flossingisforteeth · 15/05/2025 06:24

Am no food expert compared to all the excellent suggestions above, but when I was temporarily less mobile and getting bigger, pilates really helped with toning

HopingForTheBest25 · 15/05/2025 07:06

Hello all,
would like to join in too. Am 5'2, about 3-4 st overweight too scared to find out for sure.
I started calorie control yesterday - had small sandwich and banana for lunch, sushi, banana and a snack size dairy milk for dinner. No breakfast and no creamy coffees or discord croissants from Costa.

Have done low carb before which was very effective but brutal and difficult to do without lots of prep, which I currently don't have the energy for. I figure calorie controlled and limited carbs might be more doable. Am aiming for no more than 1200 calories per day.
Best of luck everyone

@Crikeyalmighty How long have you been doing the 2 meals/calorie counting and are you having success?

I must admit the only thing that’s ever worked for is a diet group (WW) there’s nothing quite like the accountability of getting on that scale each week 👀 other than that I just cheat constantly on diets! I remember losing my first stone quite quickly which always spares you on! Is there a group of friend or work where you could get a diet group together with weekly weigh-ins? X

@Addicted2Sugar well I did 6 weeks on 2.5 MJ and went from 95 to 91.2 - I’ve done a week on 2 meals a day , cal count to 1100 , 2 dance classes , herbal suppressants once a day and was bang on 90 this morning after 7 days - so I’m happy with that - especially given I’ve had no heartburn or nausea and only a very small amount of tummy ache for 10 mins after taking them - as I said though I’ve got good willpower and am not a snacker so some of the benefits of MJ were not really the biggie for me - one reason I did start was I was at the low end of pre diabetic and the insulin aspects were what interested me - apparently the herbal stuff I’m taking though also benefits on that aspect - just not as much as MJ .

Crikeyalmighty · 15/05/2025 12:22

i didn’t want to be a negative Nelly by the way - it clearly works well for others without side effects or very tolerable side effects- in my head I think was also the fact I did lose 2 stone 4 before in 8 months without the side effect or the dent in bank balance . I just lost motivation!!

Addicted2Sugar · 18/05/2025 00:30

Just checking in. I have done well - until tonight. Back on it tomorrow though 😂

Me too BBQ and all efforts went out the window.
Hope i didn't do too much damage

Needspaceforlego · 18/05/2025 09:47

@Crikeyalmighty what herbal suppressant are you using?

Stuckinarut100 · 18/05/2025 10:25

Can I join please, I’m 47 soon, I’m 5ft 1 and currently 10st 6. I would like to lose a stone.
it’s very hard, I have lost 6lb in the last month.

im on 1400 calories a day, I exercise four times a week and walk the dog.

I have to be strict, it’s hard, drinking lots of water helps. I work at home and everytime I go in the kitchen I have a small glass of water.

aiming to lose another 6/7lb over the next month.

you have to not eat the fuck it button and just keep going.

Crikeyalmighty · 18/05/2025 11:40

@Needspaceforlego berberin GLP1 from sensilab - I’m still losing ok by strict cal control and a bit more excercise - seems to be working for me as takes the edge of appetite a bit

I have weighed today and 2lbs down. I was 2lbs down on Friday so in theory should have been 3lbs down by this stage but... The weekend! I am actually taking the victory as I rarely hit a Monday staying the same as Friday.
Hope you're all doing ok.

I have suddenly had this weird epiphany at just how overweight I am. I thought I was a bit overweight but now I am really seeing myself and am furious! Furious with myself that I have done this to myself. I am very overweight and BMI is straddling the obese category.

@Addicted2Sugar go you! 2lbs down, and on a Monday too! Well done.

I had a week of 4 nights away from home last week and lots of travelling so did a terrible job but today I meant business, stuck to 1400 calories and been out running. I need to maintain this consistently now 🤞🏻

Needspaceforlego · 19/05/2025 20:54

2lb down isn't to be sniffed at!

I stayed the same despite trying to watch what I'm eating. And upping the exercise. Slightly disappointed but I know it was Saturdays BBQ that was a killer.

This week is going to be a tough one, away for 3 days on a family trip.

@Indianapolice well done on the run. That is brilliant news. Keep it up.

I wasn't as good today with drinking, so that's my focus tomorrow.

How are you all doing this week?

Needspaceforlego · 22/05/2025 16:32

I'm doing OK at the moment. But away for the weekend, really need to be careful what I'm doing or I could really undo a load of work.

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 22/05/2025 16:37

Sorry, if I am not reading everything.
How much are you walking/exercising etc?
I did Slimming World and lost some weight but felt it was all about food not exercise.
When I started walking and now walk about 22,000 steps a day the weight fell away.

Indianapolice · 22/05/2025 19:21

I feel the same! I've found it really easy to stick to my daily calories this week, but also with the bank holiday coming feel like it's gonna be MUCH tougher

Addicted2Sugar · 22/05/2025 20:43

I feel.like I have done well with food, not so good with water. Probably averaging about 8k steps. I know I need more exercises but the knackered leg is bad at the moment.
Anyway, weighed myself this morning and have put 1.5 on. FFS
