Best way to lose weight

I'm 60, 5 feet 7 inches/170 cm and weigh 12 stone 12. Ideally I'd like to get down to 10.5 or 11 stone. I know low carb works, but I just can't stick to it long term and then pile it all back on. I can't afford to subscribe to meal plans. I've tried Slimfast but get very constipated very quickly. I think I don't weigh enough to try injections and also would worry about side effects. I struggle to exercise due to fibromyalgia pain and anxiety around attending classes too.

What worked for you and would you recommend it?

Have you tried cutting meals in half? You could still have carbs but reduce the amount? I heard having carbs with protein can help so bread with peanut butter. Can you do any exercise like walking or yoga?

I do try and walk as much as possible, but sometimes it's just not possible.

I could try cutting carbs in half.

Intermittent fasting, you can adjust the hours according to your lifestyle, and eat whatever you want in the eating hours . Best thing ever . I have lost 2 stones with it and currently trying to shed the rest of the 3 stones. I do the 18:6

Human Being Diet by Petronella Ravenshear. You get the book, read it thoroughly, do it and watch the lbs fall off. Am on Phase 3 day 6 and am doing so well. It’s also got a phase 4 forever plan to stick to. What’s key is you have a treat meal once a week where you can have whatever you want. So you are not always having to be ‘good’. And there is a science behind the treat meal.

Fasting sort of works for me but it's fine to stick to when kids are in school, much harder at the weekends.

I also need to be careful with protein or lack of protein, couple of years ago I lost about half a stone but a disproportionate amount was muscle going by the scales.

I wouldn’t fast personally, it’s not easy to do that long term and you could end up bingeing from hunger. Diets are not the way to go but introduce small changes little by little. For example, if you have burger and chips normally try oven chips instead, or homemade ones, half the chips and use extra veg instead. If you normally like cereal, try a high protein muesli or overnight oats with peanut butter, the protein will full you for longer. Don’t skip meals and move your body every day.
