Food noise

I’m happy to hear this has a name, and that it’s not just me. I think about food an awful lot of the day, and I feel hungry frequently. I think this has got worse during peri, as I don’t remember always being like this.
Other than weight loss jabs, how do I stop it? My BMI is in the obese category, and if I do lose a few pounds, I put it all back on. I exercise 3 times a week, so it’s not as if I’m not moving, in fact I hardly sit down at home.

I’m obese and have started spending time in the evenings prepping breakfast, lunch and snacks for the next day. That way I’m still spending time thinking about, planning and prepping food rather than reaching straight for the closest food item first.
My diet is much better than it has been recently and I feel better for it. Weight loss is slow and steady so far.

I find that if I manage to get out of the sugar habit then I find it a lot easier to stick just to my planned mealtimes and food.

Honestly the only solution is cutting out the crap. No sugar no processed carbs no junk food!

The more you eat, the more you crave. Quit it completely for 21 days and the noise subsides quickly. Its like being a drug addict, you can then have cake again for a couple of days and guess what the noise is back on again!

Some of us have this craving constant! It’s an addiction and sugars and UPF’s are highly addictive and the high doesn't last long unfortunately.

I have been listening to Dr chatterjees talks about protein and the biochemist the glucose goddess. They explain techniques on how to reduce hunger and sugar cravings and how to overcome it. Understanding how and why have helped me so much.

I'm following this and I don't feel the constant urge to eat sugar anymore and my scales are going down. If I do eat sugar, its a downward spiral for the rest of the day, following their recommendations have really helped me.

My food noise disappears if I plan and eat properly, so lots of veg/ and protein. Protein is key. I can't eat sugar, if I do I just crave it like an alcoholic craves booze. I just have to cut it out. I've lost a lot of weight doing this.

I found it helpful to designate something I could always eat. When I started I made an enormous vat of cabbage soup from the "cabbage soup diet", more recently it's been apples and black coffee. Hungry? I can eat an unlimited quantity of that. It quickly sorts hunger from the other thing.

I wish I could get rid of the food noise too!
I am terrible for emotional eating, snacking when I am tired and snacking out of boredom, even though what I snack on is considered healthy. I can easily eat half a packet of plain Ryvitas.

I’ve tried EVERYTHING! Nothing has stopped the food noise and I “ get to eat a lot for just maintenance”. Around 2600-3000kcal and I’m STILL HUNGRY all the time. I eat complex carbs, lots of vege and lean protein, around 160g of protein a day. Still hungry. I’m fit and train about 10h a week, around 66kg.
A few weeks ago I got a shot of my friends weightloss medication and OH MY GOD! I feel like a normal person, I get full, I don’t have any food noise, I can’t stick to around 2000 kcal a day without being hungry. Now I’m sourcing the internet to get hold of it myself.
I never thought I would promote a weightloss drug but yeah, here I am and I’m obsessed already. No diet can make me feel like this. I hate the constant fight trying to not eat as much as I want to and this is the only way I’ve found that works

The change for me in one week has been a massive relief.

my food noise issue was getting worse by the day to the point where I was just constantly thinking of what to eat or grabbing everything I craved and it was literally cheese bread take away chocolate and crisps every single night.

I was just so fed up with it and totally lost my self control.
I’ve been reading the weight loss injection boards for months and after speaking to a few people I know that have started them I spoke to my gp who gave me the go ahead so I ordered

it sat in my fridge for two weeks before I plucked up the courage to do it

I did my first jab last Thursday night and I can’t tell you how oddly refreshing it is to crave veg and good food and not even think about chocolate or crisps or bread.
the nearest to bread I’ve been able to actually fancy was a bagel thin and then I didn’t really enjoy it.

on day 5 so far and I’ve had the odd nausea feeling the first day or so and some burps at the weekend and my stomach was bit dodgy last night for an hour.

I’ve really made sure to keep my water intake up to 2 ltrs a day minimum and tracking on my fitness pal but honestly the relief from not constantly thinking of food is so crazy.
looking back I’ve been like it with food all of my life.
my dad is the same and really struggles with portion control and binge eating.

im not saying wli are the answer at all and my plan is to use them only temporarily to re set my body and mind again back out of that cycle.

Greedybugger · 26/03/2025 06:13

@dothehokeycokey
It’s crazy isn’t it! A crazy relief! I also hope I won’t have to take these injections for life to stop the food noise.
