I am actually really terrified of eating again. I am hungry but it's like when you are grieving and eating is like swallowing cardboard. Things are really crap at the moment - more so than usual - and I can honestly say that losing a lb on the scales is in the top 3 of positives each day.

I'm really reluctant to see GP as previously I was told not to eat prawns or Avocados if I want to lose weight which I thought was rather ill informed.

I've always had eating issues but I keep them under control most of the time. Indeed, despite starving myself down to 6stone as a teenager,I have managed to become healthy again and have 3 children. That was ages ago and I just don't have the will power Idid then so I knwo I will eat again, it's just a case of when.

divided, have you been in touch with the Eating Disorder Association? They are great. Also, try to see a different GP this time. That last one sounds absolutely crap! I totally understand the greiving feelings. I used to have them too. I was able to get some good quality help and got better again, but it takes a bit of time and lots of willpower, which you have in buckets!
So sorry you are having such a crap time. Can yo ufind something else which would give yo uthe lift starvation is at the moment?

Now. Go and have something to eat. Just a bit. I have been ill and I know that if you cut down the amount you are eating it makes you feel sick and not wanting to eat anything. I get this I really do but you have to get out of it. If not for you then for your children. Start by having little bits and build them up. You have to eat no matter what to start off with, then it gets easier.

Thank you. If I had a sure fire way to eat again but still get down to 8stone as I wish to, I'd do it. Help!

You don't need to be 8 stone, that's not who you are anymore. Your body's not the same and it never will be, no matter how much you starve yourself. 8 stone at 5'2 isn't really healthy. Have a healthy diet in normal amounts, that's all you need. Whatever you weigh doing this then this is the weight you are ment to be.

divided, I have to go off line now as ds is not going to go to sleep without me tonight (little bugger!) but I will check your thread tomorrow.

Please try your best to eat even the tiniest morsel. Calories will speed up your metabolism just now and will make yo ufeel better - a starving brain is a depressed brain. I know it must be incredibly hard, but it is so worth it, honestly. Wish I could wave a magic wand!

Goodnight for now!

Divided - I have been here too. Trouble is, even if you do get down to your desired weight, you are highly unlikely to maintain it. Eating healthily with some exercise (and walking is fab, doesn't have to be all that gym stuff) is the best way to lose weight and keep it off. And I speak as a former bulimic who has just had a baby, so I know how hard our relationship with our bodies can be.

I refer you to dh's comment on my post-partum bod - "You look like a woman who has had a baby, and that's beautiful."
