Alternatives to MyFitnessPal

Can anyone recommend an alternative to MyFitnessPal? I don't mind if I have to pay for it, I just need:

  • Decent calorie database
  • Ability to create and store recipes so I don't have to add ingredients from scratch
  • Based on calories not any other points system (i.e. not WW)

I've always been so happy with MFP, but it's just got so buggy, especially the recipe feature, so I'd like to give something else a try.

nutracheck was good when i used it

I use MyNetDiary. It has the features you want and more besides.

richardosmanstrousers · 12/03/2025 12:59

I use nutracheck and find it far easier to navigate than MFP

LancreWowhawk · 12/03/2025 13:23

Thanks everyone - I just had a look at Nutracheck, it looks really good!

Another user of Nutracheck here. I’m in France, but the UK food database has most foods I use. There is the ability to add details of items not in the database.

Hibernatingtilspring · 12/03/2025 17:56

Nutracheck has the option to create recipes, weigh the full amount and then add it by weight, eg I can batch cook a big pot of chilli and then add that I ate 300g of it for dinner and 200g for lunch the next day. I find that really helpful.

Having the pictures of UK branded food is much quicker to find what you're looking for and the accuracy of the nutrition info is much more reliable than MFP.

DH and I are both using nutracheck, he’s doing serious weight loss whereas I’m edging down slowly. It integrates well with our Apple Watches and is pretty easy to use.

Another vote for Nutracheck it's really good. Although I would ignore the generic food and make sure you add in the actual brand. Noticed this morning I was just putting in wholemeal toast rather than the bread we buy and there was a fair few calories of a difference 😳

I use Fat Secret. Sign up online and select UK when you set up your account. Easier to navigate than MFP and the food database actually sticks to UK products if you select UK at the start. you can also add things that aren't already there

Chronometer free and paid options

Another Nutracheck vote here. Bloody marvellous app.

FiveShelties · 13/03/2025 08:51

Another Nutracheck fan here. I am in NZ and have to input some food but I find it excellent.

TheGirlWhoLived · 13/03/2025 12:47

Nutracheck is amazing, I’ve been using it to track consistently for months now and it’s been great

LancreWowhawk · 13/03/2025 14:53

Thanks everyone - DH and I decided to sign up for Nutracheck.
