What keeps you motivated?

Bonus points if you have ADHD!

I get bored very quickly when attempting to lose weight. Even if something is working (calorie deficit, weight lifting & running) I lose interest after a while.

I'm the biggest I've ever been & can't even blame my last pregnancy as severe morning sickness meant I only put on 4lbs of fat. I need to make a long term change.

A few things keep me motivated. I know you can’t rely on the scales as they have a mind of their own with water retention etc, but I get great motivation when I see them go down. The food I eat now, I really like and is very tasty- I also have treats every single day so I don’t feel deprived but they are within my calorie deficit. My husband gave me his Fitbit watch and I make sure I do 10k steps every day - easy enough as I have to walk the dogs for an hour each day. But I do get a sense of accomplishment when my wrist buzzes telling me I got the 10k - ridiculous but it motivates me. The other thing is having to go up a hole in my belt buckle. I also treated myself to some new “fitted” clothes which I love when I lost about a stone. I lived in black leggings and massive tops so couldn’t see the weight pile on. Once you start losing you are on the road and I really hope it gives you motivation.

Best of luck 🍀

It took mounjaro for me. I have tried and risked so many times over the years. I also have ADHD and could never stay focussed past the first couple of stone. I'm autistic too and become obsessed with the theory of it all but the ADHD part heard the food noise and then the autism obsesses over how I can smell as much crap in as possible. It's been a losing battle for around 25 years and Mounjaro had absolutely fixed it for me. It's stopped the battle in my brain and I can just eat healthy meals without giving it a second thought.

I really try hard to be committed but each and every time, something happens. For instance I hate exercising on my period so I wait until day 3 when I have energy. Then one of the kids picks up an illness from school which means I have the kids home and also get ill myself. By the time we've recovered and back to school and routine, my period comes and then it's the school holidays again. Rinse and repeat. Every single time I bloody attempt to do something about it.
