Overwhelmed and claustrophobic with diet

So I’m losing weight for my wedding in 6 months. I’m doing perfectly well with the weight loss. Tbh the wedding is a great motivator in shifting the weight I put on with Covid and then back to back pregnancies. But there’s something so soul destroying knowing I’m going to be calorie counting for the best part of half a year that really freaks me out.

Anyone else get this?

Yup. It's enough to make you throw in the towel but you can't because the wedding but it's awful arrgghh!

Two techniques to build in. Delay don't deny. Promise yourself you will eat that thing at some point, maybe even set a date.

Come up with some indulgent meals that feel like you are spoiling yourself but are still on plan. Mine are takeaway indian (so spoiling myself by not having to cook) but I will have the tandori chicken and cauliflower side instead of curry and fried rice. Or shish kebab with salad, yogurt dip and chilli sauce. Avoid the bread or donner depending if you are reducing carbs or calories.

Great advice, thanks. Funny enough the takeaway meals you’ve mentioned are my got to treats. Thank god for Chicken Shish, salad and chilli sauce. Same with chicken tikka. My fiance is actually looking at making me a version of a tandoor oven I eat it so often these days.

I've started buying pataks curry kits. Cheaper then buying the takeaway and tastier then a supermarket ready meal. You can bulk them up with extra meat or veggies too. Tesco's Also do greek style pork or chicken although it's quite expensive, equivalent to an actual takeaway but worth it on sale.

If your budget can stretch it I used to buy a peking style duck and cook it until crispy then serve with stir-fry with garlic and soy sauce. DH would get the rice and hoisin.

Also I do something called 'everything but the bun' burger (I keto). Beef patty, cheese, coleslaw, mushrooms, tomato relish etc.

I agree with the treats, and thinking about how to make things you like healthier. Red meat is often demonised in weight loss but lean steaks, 5% mince etc are fantastic bases for healthy meals, just don't drown them in fatty sauces . Same with potatoes- spray of vegetable oil and in the air fryer taste great. Don't be too restrictive because it's a marathon not a sprint. It doesn't have to be all salads and overnight oats!

Also agree with things like meal kits- I often do a curry- make it with prawns or chicken and add extra veg and spices. Very easy and very tasty
