Losing weight without injections

Hi all,

Just to clarify I absolutely have no issue with people using injections to lose weight, I'm just a massive wuss and I'm scared of injecting myself and possible side effects.

I'm 112kg and my BMI is 37.8 - my liver is starting to be affected but I knew this in November and made no changes.

I've put on the bulk of the weight in the last 4 years - I've been going through some stuff, not working and genuinely just being a lazy so and so - exercise? Whose that? Honestly my sofa and food became my best friends which is so grim.

I now want to change all that and look at losing 4-5 stone and feeling healthier.

I'm planning on calorie counting and adding more water into my diet - I'm starting a new job in a week and was wondering how people for exercise in?

I have two children under 5 who don't sleep so I can't do it in the evening really and the work is in the middle of no where so can't do for a walk on lunch - I'm a bit worried about it really but don't want to be disheartened and then just give up completely.

Any suggestions please?

You can lose weight without exercising at all. I lost 4.5 stone and barely moved off the sofa whilst doing it as I was waiting for an op. I found My Fitness Pal great for logging and keeping my calories on track. Exercise is great for fitness but isn’t actually great for weight loss so don’t worry about that so much, just focus on what you eat. Good luck.

Weight Watchers helped me lose 6 stone ( need to get just over half a stone of regain off) It’s easy enough to follow and good for me as it’s made me adopt healthier habits. I eat veg at least five times a week for example where as before I didn’t. It’s also made me more aware of portion control and sizes so it’s been a game changer for me.

Following. I'm too scared to take the jabs too.

Ive recently started using the NHS app to count calories. I never wanted to count calories but its actually easy, as the app lets you search foods up and add them. Losing weight is mainly about eating, so dont worry if you cant exercise much, just do what you can.

My dh started eating salads as a replacement for potatoes with almost all meals. He treats himself on a Saturday. He cut out nearly all sugary treats and mainly drinks water or squash. He has been walking loads too. He lost 6st.
I'm doing it his way this time. Started 6th of January and have lost 1.5st so far. I thought I would be bored of what I'm eating and drinking but I'm totally fine. Hot water and lemon instead of my usual tea with semi skimmed milk. Seeing results is really motivating me to keep going.
I eat porridge with fruit for breakfast. Along with some fresh orange juice.
Lunch is some kind of salad or poached egg on toast followed by a piece of fruit. Dinner mostly chicken salad wrap with sweet chilli, soup with crackers or salmon and rice. I'm not fed up and I'm not hungry. Hoping I can keep going for another few stone. Ideally 4st but would be delighted with 3 and feel another 2st completely achievable.

Hello.
12 months ago I had a bollocking by the doctor and had the diagnosis of T2 diabetes.

11 months ago I cut the carbs and stopped the take aways. Initially it was ok but I kept having big carb crashes and binging when no one was looking.
After a lot of will power and some changes (reduced the amount I was eating) I started to lose after 2 months (9 months ago).

The first 5 months I managed to shift 15 kg, then I hit a wall and ran out of steam.
This was the point I went on the injections and over the next 4 months I lost a further 12kg.
Currently I have hit another wall with it.

The injections are much like trying to give up smoking with a nicotine patch on verses someone trying to do it with will power (it's just an aid).

In the end I have just creeped out of the obese zone and I am trying to keep small changes that I have made. (No beer, pasta, potato, bread). Any carbs I have now are a treat.

Good luck with what you are trying to do.

I would concentrate on sorting food first and not the exercise.
I am at a current stale mate after losing 3 ish stone I now gain and lose each week so I need to get a grip as have 3 more stone to lose not easy when addicted to food and it's my crutch.
I am going to really try this week, let's try hard and post our intake to motivate us.

I would concentrate on meals cutting our processed and starchy foods, as others have said, for exercise, get the kids out on bike rides / scooter rides, and get walking more. Do what you can, when you can.

Improving your lifestyle and taking care of yourself, soak in the bath / painting your nails. Taking time for you when you can will all help reduce stress and improve health / weight.

I agree with not worrying about the exercise right now - you can just walk more. If you get a spare 20-30 mins just go for a walk rather than sit down on the sofa

When you get nearer your goal the exercise really helps move the scale for the final push but initially I didn’t do much more than just more walking in a calorie deficit. I lost 5 stone. I am on the last stretch of 6lbs and now I do need to exercise to do it!

Little and often is a good rule for adding exercise rather than trying to walk 10,000 steps or run 5k straight off. You can try to build exercise into your day by doing simple things like always climbing the stairs rather than taking the lift, walking the long way round to the tea point, walking to a colleague’s desk rather than messaging. Even if your work is in the middle of nowhere you could just walk around the outside of the building or perhaps 10 mins along the pavement and back again.
