Why is it so hard to loose weight as a short woman????

Just that really. I'm 5ft2 and after a horrible year with our last failed ivf attempt, close family illness and a bereavement over Christmas I've let the gym slide and embraced pj's and bottles of wine on the sofa. I'm now back up to 11stone 7 and obese according to my bmi. so pissed off at myself.

I'm back in the gym (weights and hiit workouts) and got the calorie counting back on but I find it so hard to loose weight if I'm eating any more than 1200 calories a day. But all the advice says that is an unhealthy amount.

Just a vent really but if any other short ladies have any advice please share. I'm just so frustrated.

I'm also 5'2" and lost a stone in about 3 months and have kept it off for 4 yrs. I say 'about 3 months' because i wasn't weighing myself throughout so not sure when exactly it happened - just noticed one day that i looked different. I think thats been the key for me - because I was focusing on getting my workouts in and eating healthily (as much as i wanted) it was bearable - even enjoyable - and has become my lifestyle.
That was after years of bingeing/restricting and getting nowhere.
I'm reading The Female Body Bible atm and according to that if you don't eat and drink the right amount you can lose muscle mass rather than gaining it.
It's sad to read this thread - 1200 calories a day is not enough.

And I'm really sorry to hear what you're going through and please don't be so hard on yourself.

Well done! Any idea approx how many calories you ate per day to lose the weight? Are you now at a 'healthy' weight?

I'm 5ft2 and just want to lose a few pounds (I'm already a healthy BMI but feel/look better a few pounds lighter). I have a healthy diet and am tracking every mouthful on Nutracheck, but not lost a pound since Christmas.

@Fibrous
Thanks for this. I think I might scrap the obsessive counting and just try and avoid upfs and have a good range of veg.
What you have described sounds like a better way for me. Hope it works!

Sorry no I've never tracked. Yes when I started in about March 2021 I was on the healthy/overweight borderline and now I'm the lower end of healthy.

Well done @Pencilsieve - sounds like you've seen great progress in a sensible, balanced way. Would you mind sharing what a typical day of food and exercise looks like for you?
