Started my diet in the new year and doing well so far.i have found it a lot easier to go very low calorie during the day and have a nice evening meal. I've cut out all crisps and chocolate. I would just occasionally like to have something that feels indulgent. Yoghurt and fruit does not cut it. Nearest I've come is crackers with pineapple cottage cheese. What I'm really hankering for is warm crusty bread slathered in butter and full fat cream cheese. Please give me your best ideas.

I like 0% fat Coconut Skyr with fruit. High in protein too.

Its a treat because it tastes like its chocca with calories but it isn't, plus I can bung it in the microwave for 5 minutes - no prep! Its 380 for a full meal. No its not particularly healthy, and its a treat because I can't afford ready meals all the time, especially at £4.25, but it certainly beats salad.

As far as sweet treats go - aldi macarons. Just two is enough for me. Which is about 100 cals I think. I don't know if they do them now as xmas has passed, but i'd get a 6 pack and hide them from the kids.

Mochi (the ones that are in the freezer), ice lollies, solero

PerambulationFrustration · 21/01/2025 14:11

Have you had frozen banana as ice cream?
It's amazing. Just a frozen banana with a splash of milk of choice add any flavourings like vanilla, cocoa powder, berries, coffee and blend.

Doggymummar · 21/01/2025 14:12

I just ate a tub of cottage cheese. Delish

GoulashSoup · 21/01/2025 14:21

Savory ones:

Crispy seaweed (like the itsu little packets)
Jerky (I stock up when I’m in Lidl as it’s much cheaper)
Kallo corn cakes (taste like popcorn to me). I like them with laughing cow blue cheeese triangles and cucumber.
or with marmite and low fat cream cheese.
Also like the blue cheese triangles on crackers with a little bit of caramelised onion chutney.
Another favourite is the Ryvita crisp beads (the ones in the yellow box). Works with the above, but also wafer thin ham and cherry toms.
Miso soup, 18cal for a little sachet.
little bags of popcorn (salt and vinegar ones)

GoulashSoup · 21/01/2025 14:22

Also a fan of crunchy peanut butter (don’t need a lot) on celery

GoulashSoup · 21/01/2025 14:24

I also like slices of Parma ham or Milano salami.

or a boiled egg.

Trying to keep a bit more protein than carb in the mix

GoulashSoup · 21/01/2025 14:24

And sliced gherkins and pickled onions

BobbyBiscuits · 21/01/2025 14:31

Those big prawns in their shells. Or crab meat. You can get packs of white and dark meat freshly picked. They're quite expensive, but it's so good with lettuce, spring onions and a bit of mayo and sriracha and lemon juice! Those are low calorie and low carb.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 21/01/2025 14:32

If I'm craving something savoury I like a bagel thin with the extra strong seriously spread, or have it on a marmite rice cake 😋 Also like a turkey bacon bagel

Waterboatlass · 21/01/2025 14:37

Roast a tray of, onions veg and garlic with herbs when you've got the oven on. Have with low fat cottage cheese ,or baked with yogurt and an egg to make a crustless quiche if you're a savoury person.

Have a pan of veg soup in the fridge for filling up on. Swirl of yogurt for a bit of protein

TerroristToddler · 21/01/2025 15:04

Not particularly indulgent, but I love chocolate so whilst on my diet (1,200-1,300 cals max) I always treat myself to a small kitkat (107 cal) as my evening bit of chocolate. I make sure the rest of my food during the day is volumous - so low cals, high volume so that I'm full (lots of veg, beans, protein).

.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/01/2025 15:37

We call this 'monkey bark' in our house...

Dark chocolate melted and spread on a sheet of greaseproof
Chopped dates on top
Sliced banana on top
Small blobs of peanut butter (if drizzled if you get a runny one)
Sprinkle of sea salt

Put it in the freezer until it's all frozen then slice into squares. It's very delicious but doesn't leave me raiding the cupboards for more sugar.

itsalwaysthesame · 21/01/2025 18:04

Olives & posh Italian ham or small chunks of cheddar (weighed portion)

Pistachio nuts / Twiglets

My sweet is Greek yogurt (only use fage as the rest are all a bit crap), mix with some teaspoons coffee diluted in cold water and dust with chocolate powder, sometimes add chai seeds & chocolate drops too

Frequency · 21/01/2025 21:06

dry fried king prawns with a dash of chili and garlic powder. If you want to turn it from a snack to a meal add stir-fried peppers, red onion, and mushrooms and serve with cauli rice (or rice if you prefer).
