I am so short, I can't carry an extra ounce. I am feeling sorry for myself. I've eaten a bit less than I really wanted to for about three days in a row now, which is good. But it will takes weeeeeks of this.

I am size 12 and 9 stone and a half stone.

How much weight would I have to lose to look slim? Not thin. I could never be thin. But I'd like people to look at me and think, those trousers are lovely. Not, those trousers could be nice on a slimmer person.

CarGirl is right, the right bra does make a real difference. Have you been measured? I used to wear a 36 and then was measured as a 34.

JenniferHart · 04/05/2008 22:31

Paddington, I remember once my Mum promised to give me £1,000 to spend on clothes if I lost a stone. I was about 22 then and I was ten stone. Fattest I've ever been. It did galvanise me. It shocked me too though. I thought your Mummy was supposed to love you even when you were fat!!

JH it sounds like you have been wearing the wrong size. The bra I'm wearing now, I can hardly feel I've got it on!

CarGirl · 04/05/2008 22:32

MP I am currently 8 stone I need to lose half a stone, I was 6 and half stone pre dd1 (and conceived on contraceptive failure) I'm just over 5' and have a petite frame. I currently have a size 10-12 waist which is not good on someone with heart disease in the family.

JenniferHart · 04/05/2008 22:33

I've never been properly measured. I'd be afraid they'd bully me into buying a lacy horrible bra. Perhaps I should do it though. It might be ........fun. sort of.

My mum promised to buy me an outfit if I lost weight - this is when I was at uni and had discovered booze...
I did lose some weight, and i did get the outfit. I guess she was only thinking of my health, but it didn't feel like that at the time! I must have been about 10 stone then too.

Sidge · 04/05/2008 22:34

I'm 5 foot and half an inch.

That half inch is very important

I'm not overweight but I agree that when you're short every pound shows. I'm currently about 8 stone 2 and a size 8-10 (have small waist and hips but thunder thighs so am really a size 9 I reckon!)

I would like to be 7 stone 10 - that's what I feel most comfortable at. I know that sounds daft to people who have a lot of weight to lose but it's not so much the numbers on the scales, it's what you feel best at isn't it?

CarGirl · 04/05/2008 22:34

You cannot measure more under your boobs than over your boobs? You need to lift your flaps up and put the tape measure underneath IYSWIM?

CarGirl · 04/05/2008 22:36

See sidge understands we are the same height/weight, apart from my fat all lands on my tummy my tummy sticks out further than my boobs atm

Ecmo · 04/05/2008 22:36

I'm a 36b too but I'm a square shape which accounts for the 36 bit!

JenniferHart · 04/05/2008 22:45

My bras always feel too loose actually. I'm going to sort this out. I'm not too worried about my boobs getting smaller. They couldn't get a lot smaller really. It's amazing how the person who has my boobs also has my arse iyswim. Really. Baffling.

I feel hungry. So I have to go to bed. I have eaten nothing that wasn't nutritious today. Not so much as a rich tea biscuit has passed my lips today. I will go to bed with a glass of water now, and focus on being 8 and a half stone..

PS Paddington, I used to have a bag of crisps with my lager at uni. And most nights two bags of crisps!! hee hee. Oh the good ol' days. HAD to be cheese and onion.

OH I have to go to bed NOW before I eat...

paddingtonbear1 · 04/05/2008 22:50

ah yes, crisps! My other downfall..

I am 5ft 1 and 8 stone 12.. I am very curvy and have quite big boobs and very small waist with a jlo bum. people say I look tiny but I cant see it. I wear size 10 usually but have some size 8 and in gap yesterday the 6 was roomy!!! . I think it depends on your bones, mine must be heavy i think!!

dalek · 05/05/2008 19:53

Well I feel like a big fat bloater listening to you lot - I am 5ft, at the moment weigh 11 stone but am hoping to get down to 9 1/2 to 10 stone and although I am squeezing into size 12 am probably a size 14. I cannot imagine ever being 8 stone again. When I was 9 stone 8 last year was easily fitting in to size 12 and even some size 10. Hopfully I just have very heavy bones

paddingtonbear1 · 05/05/2008 23:49

widgypog you sound like my shape! Except I could never get my larger than jlo bum into size 10

widgypog · 06/05/2008 12:19

paddington..shop sizes are all over the place so difficult to say really what size i am but would say i am a 10 really as some 10's are too big but alot are ok. interesting that there isnt much difference in weight but you say you are a 12.

JenniferHart · 06/05/2008 17:56

Widgypog, you sound gorgeous!!

I have been told that it is a myth about bones. I would like to say "ah it's my bones you see, I was born size twelve"...... Some expert told me our skeletons are all the same. But I have a friend who is size 8 and she was going on about wobbyly bits, and I thought but to my surprise, when I saw her in a bikini she didn't look as thin as she looked in clothes.

My good news is that I seem to have lost 2lbs in 2 days. Resisted icecream on the beach today and everything. I am a martyr!! but I am in the zone right now! the mental zone. Resisting junk food is easy........... for now.

Dalek, that's a lot of weight to have put on in just a year. Have you recently had a baby?

widgypog · 06/05/2008 19:51

jennifer..I think I am blessed to have curves in the right place but i do have a fight with my weight as being short every pound shows. I have learnt to be VERY good at dressing my figure and I think i look bad in a bikini and better in clothes so maybe your friend is me!!!

dalek · 06/05/2008 21:08

Jennifer - no - I did lighterlife last year and that was the lowest I got to - I put on the weight again because when I go out socialising I eat and I like to go out socialising alot.

Am back on lighterlife at the moment hoping to shift that weight (am also on the lighterlife thread)and therefore NOT socialising alot.

paddingtonbear1 · 07/05/2008 13:54

Jennifer you are doing well!
the warm weather is here for now, I usually do better in summer - more exercise and salad!!
but also more lager, not so good.

titchy · 07/05/2008 14:17

Can I join? Just over 5 feet tall (5 ft short?!) and weigh 9 stone, maybe a couple of lbs more. Size 10 now. But very pear shaped with the hugest thighs you have every seen. Oh and a belly to match. Reasonably slim waist upwards though (32A for the record). Used to excercise 3 times a week and got down to 7 stone 4 (could squeeze into US size zero!!!!) - the lightest I'd been for 20 years! Then stopped..... and the weight gradualy crept back up. Would like to get to between 8 and 8.5 stone.
