has any1 else tried these? a few years ago the dr put me on them, lost 5 stone within a year! its an anti-obesity agent that does not suppress your appetite. U take it 3 times a day with a low calorie meal, takes 30percent fat of the eaten meal then passes through ur gut undigested. They are safe. ive put all my weight bk on having 2 lil 1s,my sons just 10 days old so i'm waiting a little longer b4 a try exercising! it is a quick fix to take them but if u can stick to a diet the results are very fast and then after the year u could manage on ur own (i failed,ha) my mum passed away in nov, partly because of her weight. Thats why i really want to do it this time x

Hi buzzzy. I take it at the moment. I'm pretty much working my way through everything known to man and xenical is the current one. I'm on the list to have surgery, and I finally lost the weight they wanted me to, but now I've realised I'm terrified! so I asked to be given a bit more time to try to lose some more, to make the op a bit safer.

reductil is shite.
i don't have to have an appetite to eat.

Hecate · 04/05/2008 15:48

It'll be fine, I'm just a big coward been on it a few months now.

Agree with you there NN, I don't eat because I'm hungry! I eat because I'm unhappy! Reductil doesn't sort that out!

I have a prescription but haven't done it am starting a low-carb/low GI diet and I'm wondering would it make the diet less effective to take the xenical? I'm just asking b/c sometimes these diets work because of the balance of fat/protein/carb has something to do with it. Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I really do want to know!

buzzzybee · 06/05/2008 06:59

no hun u would lose it faster. i did anyway (sometimes cheated a lil aswell!) if u can do it on ur own go 4it but if u feel u could do with a little help these would be the best ones as there not dangerous and they do work but there not a long term thing so sticking to a healthy diet is best.

Thanks. Was going to do a low gi/low cal diet and take them... Am currently on a low-cal 'detox' diet and have lost 7 lbs... but about 50 more to go, so I've got my work cut out for me

Ack, the good weather is kind of awful when you're fat. All the other mums were at school pick up in their lovely floaty summer dresses, and I was in jeans and t-shirt (nice ones, mind you) but so hot. I am depressed I didn't get my act together until a few weeks ago. Now it's going to be a long, fat, sweaty summer, trying to diet and exercise. Well, I'm down 5 kilos, but still, a long long long path ahead.

I still hesitate about the xenical pills-- I keep worrying that it will interfere with the way a low carb/ketosis diet works!

mustangsally · 10/05/2008 11:58

Do xenical pills affect your bowels?

I've got IBS and the pills sound just what I need (to give me a boost) but am worried they might set off my IBS.
