I have to clarify that I’m not sure if what I experience is binge eating, comfort eating, over eating or something else.

I eat healthy food all day, but the second I’ve finished dinner all I want to do is eat chocolate, crisps etc.

I think it’s just a habit I’ve gotten into, and one I’d like to break in order to lose a stone.

Would anyone else like to join me in resisting those evening cravings?

I beat it with Mounjaro. All thw cravings just stopped, absolute miracle as compulsive eater since childhood. I could never achieve it on my own. Failed every time for 20 years

I don’t want to do weight loss injections, especially because I only have 1 stone to lose.

I'm using slimpod. It's a short pod I listen to at night which is meant to work subconsciously. I am finding it does help (and when stopped I reverted back)

@nicknamehelp oh that’s a good idea. It can’t do any harm can it.
Do you have to pay for it?

The only thing that works for me is simply not buying things to snack on. This can be difficult if you have people in your house that want/ will buy snacks

Jaderz · 07/01/2025 07:49

I also don’t buy them anymore. I have half a stone to lose after gaining it back over December.

I used to binge eat and I would describe this as eating so much of everything you can until you feel uncomfortable. I would stick my fingers in jars, eat dry stale cereal that kind of thing. Go out and buy £10 of snacks and eat the lot. I don’t do this anymore. When there is food in the house it’s easy to graze on it and it can become a habit.

If the DC have snacks in I get them stuff I don’t really like. I think salted caramel chocolate is tasteless crap and they like it so I would get them that.

If you want a dessert in the evenings you can make jelly and fruit it’s quite nice

Hi OP - just to say it’s excellent you’re honest and want to to directly address this situation as binge eating’s very difficult to stop once started 💪

Jumell · 07/01/2025 08:21

OP this admittedly may not be very healthy in itself but one thing that worked for me was several cups of black coffee after my evening meal . It helped me stick to my dieting goal and helped me achieved target 🎯

Do you allow yourself to have the types of foods you eat at night during the day? I struggled with binge eating (much like a PP said above of eating to excess, buying a load of snacks and eating them all in one go until I felt sick) and the only way I have managed to kick it is to allow myself to have chocolate/biscuits within my normal diet in moderation and not see theses kinds of foods as 'unhealthy' and restrict them. It has worked for me and I haven't binged for quite a while now. Good luck!
