I need to shed about two to three stone and am really stuck on what plan/ approach to follow. I've done SW successfully before but think I need a new approach to keep me interested.

So what's the plan for you? Please inspire me!

I’ll probably calorie count as I know it does work. But I’m also planning on cutting out booze for a few months and then reducing my intake after that. Less carb heavy meals and bread. More steps needed particularly when I’m in the office. Nothing too hard to do and I do plenty of exercise classes but I’ve got to get out of my bad habits.

FutureMandosWife · 01/01/2025 20:02

I have lost 3 1/2 stone since March, looking to lose 8 1/2 more by Christmas then I will be at target. I go to slimming world.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 01/01/2025 20:03

Calorie counting, intermittent fasting and no snacking.

Plus, increasing my water intake.

I'd like to lose two stone.

Or, I'm going to pay for weight loss injections 🤣

GildedRage · 01/01/2025 20:22

no matter what you choose i don't think there's any harm in learning what the calorie count and nutritional value of foods you routinely eat are.

yummyscummymummy01 · 01/01/2025 21:08

It's interesting how many people are choosing calorie counting over slimming clubs, or particular diet programmes. I think in the long term I stand a better chance of keeping it off doing it this way, although definitely not knocking slimming world as have lost over 2 stone doing it before.
Thanks for the app recommendations for those that gave them.

Me too!… It’s better than eating nutella 😂

I get the pure nut ones, with no sugar.

Same! For me, it's just not good for weight loss Normally I have a spoonful in porridge and it keeps me full all morning. By cutting peanut butter I'll probably loose 500 calories a day 😜
This is the thing I always shout about ...health foods are often very calorie dense. Yes they are good for you, yes they are filling but you don't need them for the 'health benefits' when losing weight. The biggest health benefit IS losing weight, so do what you need to do to get there.

@OldEarAche my type of nibbly item that i nibble on all day even if i say i will only eat a few, i end up eating nuts by the fist full.
my am weigh in was worse than expected.
the food app was okay but i really had to measure and double check using a second app (cronometer) the no carb challenge app said the breakfast was 339 calories but my eggs must be much bigger as 2 eggs brought the calorie count over 386. so i double checked and cut the eggs back so the meal was 339 calories.
i'm too old to not be diligent, for me to weight i need to monitor the calories carefully...and stay motivated long term.

How did 2 eggs take you over 300 calories? I have two eggs on a small slice of sourdough and all weighed and counted brings me to 255 calories (including the bread!)

I need to lose 8 stone.
I had WLS at 23 stone 4 in 2020. I lost just shy of 10 stone. Was exercising each day, eating low fat, low sugar, low carb and felt fab. Then carbs crept back in and fruit and veg largely disappeared from my diet.
I had 2 babies too and bam I'm 4 stone heavier.

I've just restarted on mounjaro on Sunday. Hoping to get some exercise in each day- just 30 min of walking to start with but eventually will get back to the gym.

I'm hopeful that I'll lose 7 of my excess stones by December when I take the kids back to Disneyworld.

I'd like to get back to eating more fruit and veg as I know I'm also deficient in a lot of vitamins so health and feeling better are really going to spur me on I think

snowlady4 · 02/01/2025 04:49

Calorie counting for me. Healthy food choices. Not too complicated.
I used weight loss resources previously so I think I'll rejoin it for tracking calories.
Also lots of walking.
I want to lose about a stone and then decide if I want to lose anymore.
I have a holiday in May that I'd like to feel comfortable in my shorts and swimwear for.

GildedRage · 02/01/2025 05:06

@Journeyintomelody the eggs were part of the breakfast meal. Based on the info my “meal” was suppose to be worth 339 calories. But when I entered it into my cronometer app it was closer to 390. The issue was my eggs, extra large vs the meal calculated ones obviously small.
All in all day 1 done, lots of measuring. Under 1200 cal.

Oh I see! I thought you were just talking about the eggs. I was thinking they must have been enormous 🤣 good for you & well done!

First food at 12noon and not eating after dinner, low carb. Increasing exercise especially weights and interval training. Loosing weight in 'steps' so will lose another 10 kilos then maintain for a whole.

lemonyellows · 02/01/2025 07:01

I have just started nutracheck and it is very easy to use. Tailored to uk. I was doing well as only started in early December but stopped for Christmas and put weight on. I'm going for it now though! Also want to walk more but weather isn't helping !

Have you tried Fitbuddie?
They offer group and 1-2-1 coaching and a simple food plan to follow with no kcal counting. It’s totally doable and not restrictive…

Calorie counting I think and upping my steps. I am thinking about joining team RH. I need to be accountable and by paying someone every month, it keeps me focussed and hopefully on track. I am not sure about weight watchers and slimming world. Anyone got any recommendations?

TeamRH is great - you learn about nutrition. It is a 12 month contract but lots of useful information on the app and also a support group which helps with tips on eating high protein and fibre rich foods.
