Easy way to lose weight and exercise with chronic pain

I have fibromyalgia, a lot of the time I'm tired and in pain. I need to lose 2 stone, but am finding exercising very difficult. I get bored easily, so I'm looking for something that's fun, easy to do, gentle due to chronic pain, something I can do at home and free!

I intend to start intermittent fasting again, I've done it in the past and don't find it too difficult.

I've signed up to a couple of apps for exercise in the past, but they all end up costing money or aren't suitable due to my physical health.

I'm 60 and not very flexible. I don't really enjoy yoga. Dancing would be great if there's a free app or YouTube videos anyone can recommend or light aerobics, something like that.

I also have Fibromyalgia and for a while did Zumba Gold. I found it took me all week to recover from pain and fatigue even though I sat out of about 50% of the class. I do quite a lot of walking now which I recover quite quickly from.

Exercise will not help u lose weight. You cannot out run a bad diet. I would try eating as clean as u can.Take all the crap out of the diet for a while. And maybe something gentle like swimming? Just moving slowly?

I don't know how much I lost but went from a size 14 to a 6 and did no exercise due to disability so if I was you I'd concentrate on your diet (I did a combination of intermittent fasting and calorie counting). You need yo find what works for you long term but finding a way of eating long term was my game changer in loosing and then maintaining.

I'm interested in this subject, have rheumatoid arthritis, find walking very painful, I force myself to do my own housework and gardening but frankly that's the only exercise I'm getting.

I want to loose a little weight but not too much, I have a lovely and expensive wardrobe and aiming for my clothes to look better on me.

I'm going to devise a gentle exercise routine and stick to it.

Sorry you have fibro too. I know what you mean about it taking ages to recover!

I can't go swimming, but will definitely follow your advice regarding diet.

Wow, well done! That's amazing results. Do you find it easy to maintain? How many calories did you consume? Intermittent fasting works well for me, but sweets in the evening are my downfall and DP loves puddings!

I think maintenence is easier (not easy) because I still calorie count and intermittent fast. I am more relaxed but make sure my calories don't go over my weekly target (1100 when dieting now 1500, I'm petite and disabled, i used a calorie calculator). Even this week I've come in on target by eating less some days and allowing extra other days. I've also relaxed IF from 16-18 hours to at least 15.
I find IF rules helped me with not eating in the evening (also limiting what is in the house helps).
I still have pudding but smaller portions and within my calories. If I'm having a pudding I'll make sure my lunch is lower calorie eg I might have tinned tomatoes (44calories), 1-2 slice toast (114 calories each), 2 clementine (70 calories).
I meal plan, cook from scratch (also batch cook so when im not well i wont eat rubbish theres always something in the freezer) and know roughly what is in most of my meals.
I think maintaining is about a life style change that works for the individual and for me being able to continue monitoring my calories has helped maintain my weight, it's not a chore it's just part of life admin in a way (I use the calorie counting as my meal planner).
