Just wondering how you are getting on.

Cant quite believe that this works - anyone stepped on the scales yet? This is my first week of it.

MunchedTooManyMarsLady, have you decided to do NoCount or points ?

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 12/01/2005 22:55

I've decided on noCount. I quite like the idea of eating until I'm full. We've got lots of fruit in the house so I'm happy to snack on those. I also like the semi-dried apricots etc and will probably use those to help me along.

Kayleigh · 13/01/2005 10:56

will be interested to see how you get on. I will probably try this for the odd week here and there. I think it's good to have a change (switch!) occasionally. Have a good week

Am off to get weighed in an hour. Hopefully I will have lost at least some of the excess pounds I put on over xmas and am now deeply regretting.

Kittypickle · 13/01/2005 11:09

I still don't trust myself about this eating until full business, I've got a lot to lose, so I'm going to follow the No Count principles but keep a close eye on the points. It has been lovely feeling full up though.

Munchedtomanymarslady, at least you've done the worst bit, that first weigh in. And that's great that it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be.

Good luck Kayleigh, fingers crossed. How's everyone else getting on ?

Weighed in last night and shocked myself by losing 4 pounds! And that was even doing the diet incorrectly for most of the week. I was really surprised but I think that just shows how badly I was eating before I started the diet. I'm really going to try to stick to it this week but I have that terrible flu virus that's going around so I don't how much I'll want to eat anyway. Good luck everyone!

Well guys, I only lost a pound (which is pretty poor show as it was my first week back after xmas).

Have decided that No Count is not for me. I am sure I was eating too much of the no count stuff at meal times and yesterday I spectacularly fell off the waggon as I was craving a sandwich.

Back to counting points this week..

All you other no counters - good luck and I look forward to hearing how you are getting on

tex11 - know how you feel! Have lost 2lbs since Monday following 'the spirit' of no count, if not the letter. Am quite chuffed but also a bit embarassed as it just goes to show how much I was stuffing myself over xmas.

Hi, I've just started ww and am doing the nocount. Have only been doing it for 2 days but seems very easy so far. Will let you know how I get on next week. I like the idea that you can switch to the other one if you get bored with this. I did ww 5 years ago & got to goal weight, but have put it all back on in last 2.5 years . The nocount seems to fit with my idea of what a healthy eating plan should be, so I hope this is one I could use long term & not put it all back on again. Still, very early days yet, have got 3 stone to lose , but villa booked for Aug so plenty of incentive.

tex111 · 14/01/2005 16:20

Had a look at the new WW cookbook and I think I'll buy it next week. The recipes with a tick next to them are OK for NoCount and there were lots of delicious things! Even a bernaise (sp?) sauce using low fat cream cheese and hummus made without olive oil. I think it'll help add some variety to my meals which I need as they're starting to get a bit repetitive.

Disslocated, that's a great way to put it! I've been following 'the spirit' of it this week too as I've felt quite ill with this virus. We're also having our kitchen renovated over the next week or so and I can't cook for a few days so I'm winging it a bit. Hope my luck holds and I can still lose weight this way.

Berries - agree no count feels like a sensible healthy eating plan which is why I'm doing it. I counted points about 3 years ago but found I was eating loads of carbohydrate with veggie sauces and very little protein or fruit as this was the easiest way to 'bulk out' the point allowance. I feel like I'm getting a much more balanced diet now.

Good luck tex111, I've now lost another 1lb (but I am still bf) so it seems to be working!

Berries · 16/01/2005 20:50

Disslocated - I know what you mean about the carbs!! I found at the end that it was quite easy to stay within the letter of the points system, without staying in the spirit iykwim. Much more difficult to do that with nocount, although think I have blown it tonight as dh did roast chicken dinner & I ate til I was stuffed . Did include mammoth portions of veg though. I am trying to use one of the ST GI diet 'tips', divide the plate into quarters, and have 1 protein, 1 carbs & 1/2 veg. Still, will see what happens Wed.

I've recently got my at home pack and am horrified to discover I get even less points now than I did when I last did it! They used to just go off your weight for the points allowance but now factor in your height and type of job. I now get 19 points instead of 20 (before the extra for bf)

This has confirmed my decision to stay with nocount for a while, even though I was starving yesterday! I think more sensible use of my 21 points for snacks instead of saving them up for wine and a takeaway at the weekend might be in order!

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 19/01/2005 12:52

Have lost 1.5lbs this week. Went for my first weigh-in this morning. I'm going to stick with NoCount for a few weeks and see how it goes. I went to a party this weekend and fortunately it didn't mess me up (too much), but am planning on being incredibly good this week to see what happens. Had cornflakes with skimmed milk this morning (euugghhh!!!!!). Snacked on clementines mid morning and have just had a large bowl of vegetable soup, gave some to the DTs. Feeling rather pleased and hoping that I can keep it up. Have a couple of big summer parties and would love to treat myself to a slinky number.

Berries · 20/01/2005 11:21

I lost 5.5lbs - just goes to show the sort of rubbish I was eating before. Still got another 3st to go though

DissLocated · 21/01/2005 09:41

I have lost 1lb this week following the letter of no count, which is less than I lost when following the spirit of it!
