I bought a Salter glass cale, seemed decent brand and type, and it is supposedly accurate to 0.1kg.
And yet it will give me the same weight for days on end. I can even drink a litre of water, which should be a kg, over the morning and it will still be the same. It takes a noticeable loss to finally go down 0.5kg.
It clearly has a memory of some sort, but nothing seems to really reset it. I step on it lightly and get it to go to zero, then weigh again, but it still remembers! Or I can weight something light, and it seems accurate enough, but I get back on, and it's still the same.
It's frustrating, as I hoped I'd be motivated by at least seeing a little daily loss, or even a bit of up and down over the week, rather than risking just weighing once a week and finding I've not lost anything then. I know weighing daily isn't ideal in some ways, but I wanted the motivation of even losing 0.2 or 0.3 kg.
I am walking 5K every morning, jogging 3.5K three times a week, cycling 24k every fortnight or so. Small healthy meals, few treats, hungry a lot but resisting, mostly lowish carb, lots of water. Clothes feel looser, and I have been losing a bit, but not as much as I expected for the efforts I've put in! I don't know if I'm just plateauing or what. I was 82kg in July and now 75.6kg which is not really a lot (5'4"). I don't think I've gained much muscle, though it could be a small effect.
But I'm sure some of it is to do with the scales not showing any losses for ages. Any idea how to get it to properly forget the previous weight every single time and actually calculate a new one? It's not a fancy scale, no apps, no analysis, etc, just plain old digital weight shown.
Or do I just need to buy a new scale, maybe an old fashioned mechanical one - but I never quite trust the readings on those because it's hard to tell if it's absolutely at zero, etc.
