OMG I've hit 16 stone!!!!

Omg, as the title says, I weighed myself today and have hit 16 stone. I'm only 5 foot 1. I knew I had gained weight. It's been a continuous gain for the last few years, but I didn't realise it was that much.

Bit more about me, I have chronic pain, balance issues and fatigue, among other things, after an accident back in 2021 has left me with permanent nerve damage. I'm 49, very firmly in peri menopause, work part time from home as no longer drive etc due to my health problems.

These issues also affect my ability to exercise, or even stand for long etc so I lead to a very sedentary lifestyle and tend to take the easy way out with many meals now being based around jars rather than cooking from scratch etc. I should also probably mention that, despite clearly eating rings round me, I have a condition called dysphagia which means I have difficulty swallowing some foods. It's a weird range of foods in that I can't eat many raw foods like most salad foods, apples, grapes etc but also cannot eat things like soup.

Am I up shits creek? I'll never be able to lose this weight living off dolmio etc will I?!?

I was already overweight when I had the accident - around 12 stone - but I was fairly steady at that. I can't believe it has got this bad.

I think I'll make an appointment with my gp tomorrow. Hopefully for some time this side of Christmas the way things are!!!! I honestly don't know what way to tackle this. I love the idea of losing weight quicker with the aid of the injections but terrified of any side effects. I'll need to weigh up the pros and cons and research them. I reacted to the covid vaccine and hair dye as well as not tolerating the pill / hrt, so it isn't too promising. I will definitely also look into low carb and hypnosis etc.

It's been great to hear from you all. Some encouraging results from so many gives me hope I can turn this around.

Thank you all and good night xxx

Best of luck with it whatever route you take, OP! It can be done, the time is now, and we're all here for you.

The thing is that you are terrified of side-effects but there are huge side-effects of being overweight. That's what people forget I think.

I know I did but then I had a lightbulb moment when I realised I was drastically shortening my life.

See, I don't think that's entirely true.

I've been following the news on this and there's been 10 deaths linked to the injections, 275 admissions to hospital and around 16,000 people who needed hospital treatment.

All due to side effects of the weight loss jabs. Those are collective figures.

Mountjaro carries a higher risk than the others of pancreatitis, which can lead to organ failure. That's the cause of at least one of the deaths.

I think that people so desperately want the weight loss injections to be a safe choice that they minimise the potential side effects - which can be catastrophic, or even deadly.

Most people won't need hospital treatment. Or won't need to be admitted to hospital. Nor will they die.

But some people will. Death is very, very, very unlikely but there's a fair chunk of folk who have needed to get hospital treatment because the jabs have made them so ill.

And that's the risk you have to balance up against the health risks of being obese.

It's why the NHS doesn't recommend prescribing it unless you really have exhausted every other avenue, and why they insist on more robust checks that you'll get privately. And there are plenty of private operators who don't check properly which is how people end up getting their hands on it when they only need to shift half a stone. These are powerful drugs and yet we're treating them like a bit of Botox.

The weight loss injections will absolutely be the right decision for some people - so please don't think I'm saying that no one should be on them. But I do find the waving away of side effects really quite frustrating - it's important to make a decision with your eyes fully open rather than being in denial just because you want to shed weight easily.

That’s a really incomplete and biased presentation , to the extent I’m deeply surprised, you either misunderstood, or willfully misrepresented?

each of the admissions over the last years have been due to very minor things, like sickness/the runs. No deaths have been proven to be due to the drugs. In 5 years.

same as the USA k 15 million users, 274 deaths, not one directly due to using the right drug correctly. All either due to Illegal copies or wreckless usage.

there must be at least 50 million globally on these drugs, do you not think if they caused signficant numbers of deaths or severe symptoms they’d be withdrawn?

even the nurse in Glasgow was shown to be ill already and it wasn’t the drug.
