Want to order Mounjaro but nervous

Hi all, just looking for advice or experience really.

I want to start mounjaro when I get paid next week, but I'm nervous. I've done a lot of research and think it would really help me. BMI 35 and 5ft 4in. I look like a bloody potato in the mirror! But I've heard horror stories about bad side effects and obviously the one death this week has made me worry a little about taking it. But I don't think anything else will work for me- tried dieting ans exercise but I soon lose focus (ADHD).

Any advice or experiences? TIA x

My personal experience has been that it has been the only thing that has helped me to lose the weight. I did two months at each stage of the dosage which is probably more safe than necessary, but I found that doing it so gradually helped to minimise the side effects for me (which have been minimal tbh).

My advice, FWIW, is don't think that you can continue to eat and drink as normal. Look at doing what you can to increase both your protein and fibre inputs, (this takes planning when you shop). If you normally east fatty, greasy food and drink booze that will probably be the thing that causes the side effects if you are anything like me. My body has zero desire for those things now.

Don't take my experience as rule but I have had zero side effects. I started in July and I hit my original goal weight a month early and have dropped a whooping 23.2kg as of this morning weigh in.i have had a fantastic experience and my mind and body feel great. It is an expense but it's about the same cost as a David Lloyd membership and a weekly PT session and for me has been much more effective, especially as I'm not in a place where starting to exercise feel doable, good and I'm not embarrassed of myself. @FutureFeelsBleak is absolutely correct, you can't eat and drink as you did before. Mounjaro is not a magic pill, it's a tool to help you create and maintain a calorie deficit, in a way that would be much more difficult with will power alone, but this is still a calories in vs calories out game. There is a threat for slow losers and I think many posters on there perhaps rely quite heavily on the drug doing all the work.

Yes I'm aware of that, and I want to completely change my diet. I dont want to keep eating like i do now- I crave greasy, unhealthy food all the time eg. Fried chicken, ready meals, Dominos pizza, and also beer/wine, which won't be helping my weight at all! One of the reasons I want to try it is because, like you, I've heard it gets rid of the desire for those things. Luckily I really enjoy protein eg chicken, lean steak and plan on eating plenty if that, plus plenty of water and exercise. I'm not at all expecting it to be a magic drug.

I’ve lost 4kg… plus my Rheumatoid arthritis is better!

Shiningout · 16/11/2024 17:18

I tried it but the side effects after 3 weeks were too bad so I stopped. I lost my appetite and lost a lot of weight that month but it all piled back on as soon as I stopped. The headaches were honestly the worst I've ever had.

I see people doing so well on it and feel sad it didn't work for me as the weight loss was so brilliant

For what it's worth I've cut out alcohol in the week completely but I still allow my self wine at weekends,I also allow my myself more freedom to at the weekend. But I'm very strict in the week, cottage cheese for lunch, a chicken breast as a snack when in in from work and then what ever I fancy of the dinner that I've cook (which is usually healthy, low in carbs and cooked from scratch but no more so than before the mounjaro). The mid week might sound tough going but honestly I don't even notice. When I do have a treat at the weekend, I don't really feel like much anyway. I think this balance means I don't feel too restricted and I think it would be sustainable when I start to taper back to a life without mounjaro (through frankly that isn't going to be for a year or more once I've settled on a maintenance dose, because I really like being on it.

I had a BMI of 35 6.5 months ago and it’s now 27. I am 3.75 stone lighter!
It has been tough at times but I feel so much better. I was stuck in a cycle of weight gain craving food , overeating and being stressed and not sleeping . I was heading for morbid obesity. I couldn’t exercise as too tired.

I have only used 5mg doses and with all the codes I have spent £700 which is far cheaper than liposuction or a personal trainer.

The best thing is how much I enjoy clothes and looking nice , feeling attractive , climbing a hill without puffing . My knees don’t hurt any more .

May I ask, with such significant weight loss (and huge congrats btw!!!) do you have loose skin anywhere?
