Talk to me about TDEE

As the title says, I need to work things out correctly in order to lose weight at a manageable steady rate.
A lot of times, when calorie counting the apps tend to say to stick with 1200.
I've tried this, feel hungry, last a few days and then unfortunately have a day of overeating (by a lot).
It takes a long time to shift a pound, sometimes I find skipping meals works but that is not something I can maintain.
I've used the first site that has popped up to calculate TDEE, and it states I need 1453 calories per day for maintenance. How do I know how much to cut for weight loss? (That figure is for my weight and height and sedentary lifestyle).
I do a little exercise, (following one of the Chloe ting programmes at the moment, before that was using stationary bike).
I'm so close to my ideal weight, feeling a little deflated with how things have slowed down (and this feeling has led me to eat a lot today - mainly sugary carb foods).

Eat normally and behave normally for two weeks, tracking EVERYTHING and be honest with yourself. Weigh yourself daily. If on average you have lost weight in the two weeks you are eating below maintenance, if stayed the same your average calorie intake for the two weeks is maintenance, if you gain you’re above maintenance. No online calculator will be accurate as there are too many variables.
once you figure you your rough maintenance, cut 300-400 calories a day off it and stick to that. If you lose weight over time then that is a big enough deficit. If not then cut another 100 off each fortnight or so until you start to lose. Again, everyone is different.

@CockerMum thank you! That sounds like a sensible way to do things and makes a lot of sense! Not sure why I didn't think to start off like that 😂
