I’m so fed up

I really need some help. I’m struggling real bad with my weight at the moment, I’ve been on sertraline for the last 4 months and really piled it on. I was 82kg in August, went to the docs yesterday and was 86kg. Anyway I’ve come off my sertraline today (not because of weight, I was weaning myself anyway) but I’m just at a loss as to what to do now. I feel like I need an appetite suppressant but can’t really afford to be splashing out on weight loss injections. I feel so fed up with myself.

PS I do home workouts (not religiously) but definitely enjoy them when I do them. My aim is to build these up and get a treadmill for home too. But the eating is probably going to be my biggest downfall.

Have you thought about intermittent fasting? It's got many benefits for health as well as potential weight loss. The book feast fast repeat is an excellent guide.

You mention drugs and exercise, but how’s your diet? What and when you eat is much more important.

The bottom of the post states “my eating will be my biggest downfall”. My diet isn’t the worst, but isn’t the best. I feel generally my meals are balanced, snacking is something I have an issue with and particularly on an evening when my child has gone to bed.

Balanced might not be the best solution for you.
If you fancy it, take a look into the ketogenic diet. There are loads of videos on YouTube to give you an introduction, try Eric Westman for the science, Laura Spath for recipes, and the Ketogenic Woman for inspiration.

And, great news, a ketogenic diet can also have positive impacts on mental health issues like anxiety and depression.
If you only have the time and brain space for one video, watch Georgia Ede who plainly lays out how diet impacts on brain and mental health.

Best of luck.

To lose weight you need to be in a calorie deficit. By which way you achieve that doesn't matter. It is what you put in your mouth that will determine if you lose or not. Not those workouts.
