Weight loss surgery is matching up with scales

I’m very confused,

I had an extended tummy tuck a few days ago and the surgeon said he’d taken 4.8kg off in excess skin and also did lipo but I weighed myself the day after and I’ve lost all of 3lb 😅😆

what is going on?!

I’m not overly concerned as this wasn’t to make the scales move, more to feel comfortable after a large weight loss but still.. curious as to how the body works when it comes to surgery and weight loss.

Anyone else have any experience and when post op do you start feeling and seeing the benefits (as I’m swollen and still fitting nicely in my old fat lady pyjamas)

Thanks so much.

Water and swelling. Keep off the scales for a few weeks!

Thommasina · 21/10/2024 10:52

Well, you are still swollen.

Wait two weeks and then weigh yourself.

General anaesthetics do terrible things to our bodies.

You were probably on a saline drip during surgery as they usually push fluids, that coupled with post op swelling will account for it.

Ah..

Interesting, makes perfect sense.

Thank you, i will personally stay well away from the scales, they took my weight in the hospital post op/pre discharge so I saw it then.

I’ll give myself the break and realise I’m not broke then! Thanks for getting back to me!
