Sugar is my biggest enemy. I am obsessed.

I love chocolates, biscuits, cakes and other sweet treats. I also add a lot of sugar to my hot drinks.

I am addicted. I go into a shop and never leave without a sweet treat. I have no will power.

Please give me some tips on how to quit sugar.

The better you eat, the less crap you'll crave. Eat as many whole unprocessed foods as you can, lean heavily on plants, so shitloads of fruit, veg, whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans and pulses, etc.

What do you eat for breakfast? If you eat something high in processed carbs, that will often drive cravings for the rest of the day. Have something high in fibre and/or protein for breakfast. You'll win half the battle just doing that.

If you want to learn more about health and nutrition, listen to some Zoe podcasts - they cover a huge range of topics. Glucose goddess is also ready good, and would be very relevant for you.

You have my every sympathy; I was over weight on the verge of diabetes. For years told myself I was a lost cause because I’m addicted to sugar and there is no NHS treatment for sugar addition etc etc. But this was all just an excuse because I didn’t want to face the withdrawal symptoms. 2 months ago, I joined Slimming World and cutout both sugar and fat cold turkey. I felt like crap for the first 3 days but after that quickly felt better. With a healthy diet I feel SSSOOOOO much better in myself which gives me the motivation to fight the sugar cravings and I feel fuller for longer with reduces my craving to snack between meals. I do still crave a pudding after our evening meal so as soon as I’ve finished my meal, I have a drink of sugar free squash Robison’s Apple and Blackcurrant is really nice then I have my usual coffee with sweetener this will help for an hour or so. Then I make a fruit salad with various fruits topped with low-fat no added sugar yogurt. If I still have a craving after that I will go into the kitchen alone stand over the bin and chew on a biscuit or a piece of chocolate then spit it straight into the bin. I know this is gross but it satisfies the craving and actually it helps on a psychological level, i.e. ‘if this is what a have to lower myself to then I can do better’. I would also talk to the rest of your family, no matter how healthy they are they don’t need sugar either, cutting it out is something you could do together. Best of luck you can do this.
P.S Try chewing sugar free gum when you get a craving, that also help me.

I cut sugar around 18 months ago and have no desire to eat it now. You don't need to cut all carbs, just highly processed ones and those with a lack of fibre. I cut out all upf, refined white flour, most bread and white rice.

I also follow the glucose goddess hacks which work well to reduce blood sugar - basically never eat naked carbs, pair with a fat e.g apple with peanut butter, food ordering (eat protein and fat first, carbs last), make sure you move after eating (10min walk or some squats), only eat fruit at the end of a meal and don't snack on carbs, cool and reheat potatoes and rice as this increases resistant starch and lowers the glucose spike. Some people also drink apple cider vinegar before meals but I just add it as a salad dressing.

I find this diet is highly effective for weight loss and for generally feeling more healthy with better energy.

Cold turkey.
Up your protein and fats.
This is all fine with breast feeding.

I just switched to monk fruit sweetener and sugarless stuff. I avoid the artificial sweeteners, but there’s a lot of natural sweeteners on the market. Look up a few keto desserts, it’s easy to make a zero sugar chocolate mousse
