What's the best route, seriously? Intermittent fasting? Calorie counting? Atkins? Apps? I'm getting fed up - I eat nothing and I gain, so then I eat what I fancy and I gain, so then I stick to limits and I gain.

I lost a lot of weight before with SW, so it's not like I don't know what to do!! But before I spend money on something, can anyone tell me what has worked for you?

The three main methods - CICO, IF and keto/Atkins - all work if you're diligent about adherence. Ultimately it's about calories and consistency. I say this as someone who's 100lb down. Exercise is 20% of the equation; diet is 80%. What I would add is that at menopause, time is of the essence; it was peri that prompted me into weight loss. So rather than chopping and changing plans, I'd suggest revisiting SW it's worked for you in the past. Wishing you the best of luck; it's absolutely worth the effort.

I am mid 50s, menopausal and have yo-yo dieted all my life tried them all and fall off the wagon.

I've gone for injectables and having good progress, if you have an obese BMI and it is something you are considering post in the weight loss injections forum on MN and you can get some insights there. They are not everyone's cup of tea, they are a large financial commitment and for some they don't work, but they are still an option.

Of course the injections are no different to any diet, once you hit your goal weight there is still the issue to maintain if you don't want to put it all back on again, but at my age and with my weight now significantly impacting my health it is more important to me right now to get it off and work on maintaining (as I would have to with any diet) when I get there.

Good luck with whatever you try.
