His doctor has recommended it for DP. He is totally an emotional eater and we are going through a lot at the moment so he has been reaching for the crisps etc, and has put on quite a bit of weight. (To be clear, I’ve not mentioned it, he’s a grown ass man after all, but he has asked my views.) It sounds like Mindfulness to me, which I know some people find really helpful. Anyone used it, or using it - good or bad - would you recommend?

It wasn’t for me. It’s cultish and the Facebook support group shuts down anyone who is not unrelentingly positive.
claims not to be a diet but you should cut out sugar, eat green veg, log your meals.
Doing those things are of course sensible if you want to lose weight.
I don’t think listening to a rather bad audio of someone telling you not to eat so much and move more, daily is actually helpful.

Mixed view from me. I didn't join the Facebook group and I only watched some of the videos, but I've listened to the podcasts everyday for 45 days and in that time I've managed to entirely stop snacking and given up sugar. I honestly wasn't attributing it to the podcast, have kept it going out of curiosity, but I doubt I've just come up with the willpower that has eluded me previously on my own!

Hi OP, only just seen this. I've used it to life changing effect. Did you try it? Incorrect info above re logging food. The premise is that you should only eat when you're hungry, make better choices when you do eat, and move more. The programme supports you to do just that and helps you become a "normal eater" who eats decent stuff when they're hungry rather than, like I was, thinking about food all the time, making poor choices, eating for all manner of reasons that weren't hunger (happy, sad, bored, upset, frustrated, opportunity, occasion, coffee morning, so as not to offend someone etc). I have tried every "diet" going and this, which is a mindset thing really, not a diet, is the only thing that's worked. Age 56 I'm back to my student weight.
