Extreme fatigue on Mounjaro

I'm really struggling this evening and just hoped someone else might be able to relate and help me not feel like I'm alone!

I've been on mounjaro now for around 6 weeks and have lost 1st 4lb which is great. I have followed the recommended dosage so the first 4 weeks were 2.5mg and the last 2 weeks have been 5mg. I just don't know how to cope with the fatigue anymore. I've always been such an energetic person and I love to keep busy. Now I can do barely anything. Just the thought of getting up off the sofa feels like climbing a mountain. We went to a country show from 12pm until around 5pm today and I feel like I've been hit by a bus. Genuinely can't ever remember a time when I've felt this whole body fatigue - it wasn't even this bad in early pregnancy!

I don't want to stop as I've been trying to lose this weight and get healthier for so so so long now. My DS is now 4 so literally 4 years of trying and failing and I'm finally getting somewhere. Any tips or advice or just words of encouragement very gratefully received!!

It's probably worth talking to your prescriber. It might be worth lowering your dose

Are you eating enough and drinking enough? Do you know what your typical days's calories are?

Choux · 15/09/2024 09:49

I eat some carbs when I find the exhaustion getting a bit extreme.

I don't know your starting weight or the week by week profile of your losses but 18lbs in 6 weeks is a 3lb a week loss. My average loss over 6 months is 1.25lbs a week. As others have said are you eating enough?

You should probably lower your dose. Losing that much weight so fast isn't good for anyone, and there's no reason for you to suffer such extreme side effects needlessly. Go low with the dosage and go slow with any increases.

Take your jab the night before a day when you have little planned and can rest more

Make sure you get plenty protein in and take some electrolytes
