Admittedly I'm not sure which part of mumnset to post this too so I figured I'd try here first..

I want to start of by saying I do NOT want to lose much weight I'm 9st 2lbs and I'm very aware that my dream weight of 8stone something is just that a dream. I'm 33 years old, I have 3 children. I want to tone my stomach. It's not massive, and I'm in no way 'fat' or 'overweight' I just want to have a toned figure. Something I took for granted in my teenage years and twenties 🫠

My question is how do I go about it? What exercises do I need to do for this specific area (maybe my arms could do with toning as well) and realistically how long should it be before I expect to see results? I don't have a gym membership currently, but I'm open to getting one, cannot afford a personal trainer.

Thanks ladies and I wish you the best of luck on your journeys!

I follow a few trainers on TikTok - I'm roughly the same age as you with 2 kids - I wanted to tone up and have been following the accounts

I do the exercises 3 x a week and have started noticing a difference - it's been about 8 weeks now

Only things I bought was a mat, some light weights and a kettle bell

I don't do sit ups, but I do around the worlds / marches with the weights above my head etc - I don't know the actual names as I just follow what they do on TikTok 😂

although you can work out, and tone to a degree, when it comes to female stomach areas it’s really tricky. After pregnancy it’s usually a combo of loose skin and fat and it’s normal to have fat there as it’s protecting your reproductive organs. I’ve only lost my wobbly belly through weight loss. I do sit ups and planks and pilates and weights for 18 months I still don’t have toned abs on the surface that you can see but I have good core strength and it’s hard to press a finger into it.

You can do work outs with weights for arms and legs to tone up. Either at the gym or a home work out like Caroline Girvan. Genetics also have a lot to do with it but fundamentally muscle is seen more visibly the lower your body fat is. If you are already slim you might be able to build visible muscle with weight training and this is the ‘toning’ as you are filling out areas of your body with muscle, which is firmer compact tissue doesn’t wobble like fat or loose skin can.

I find if I walk around with my arms stretched to the ceiling it gives me a flat stomach. Two weeks on holiday like might push it 😆
