How do I do this?

Mum, full time worker, perimenopausal, no family support, apart from oh who also works full time, at least 2 stone over weight, I have tried 5:2, 16:8, sw, slimpod, calorie counting, and many, many more, but can't stick at anything, don't really know why, lack of sleep, stress, but are they just excuses. Would love to lose weight, but don't know where to start now, don't know how to keep at it, would like it to magically happen overnight, but that doesn't seem to be happening! Any suggestions/advice, please 🙏

I recently read a book recommended by my Dr called fast like a girl. It's changed my life.
Down 30 lbs but doesn't feel like much effort, just a way of life for me now. I've never felt better.

@Kirstyr455 thanks, I'll download that now, and well done!

I lost 49kg under exactly those circumstances - but I also put the weight on under those circumstances, stress and sleep deprivation need sorting out first IMO.

I read The Obesity Code and Life in the fasting lane and Fast, Feast, Repeat to get my thoughts clear and my head in the right place and lost the weight doing intermittent fasting with minimal added / processed sugar and flour containing products.

Good luck!

Stop doing fad diets. Eat real food. At least 20g protein at every meal. 6+ portions of fruit and veg daily. If you're going to calorie count at least 1600. Go too low and you won't stick to it. Walk daily. Resistance train 2-4 times a week. Stick to it. The basics work.

I would try and address some of the stress and issues sleeping as that is going to make it so much harder.

I try and do bedtime yoga/ meditation/ breathing exercises very last thing to help me sleep and relax. It’s not full proof but I believe my stress levels are clearer and I sleep better on average, because of this.

I also always get a lunchtime walk in, even if it’s 20 minutes every day wherever I am working and whatever you do with your diet, meal planning is so helpful and on those nights you want to go fuck it, I will get a pizza / takeaway/ sandwiches and crisps, you will be less likely to.

I also have a carrot in the form of a can of Coke Zero to keep me motivated
