How did I lost weight when I took time off my diet?!

I’ve been calorie counting and exercising for a few weeks now, and didn’t lose any weight. At all. (This method has worked for me in the past).

I went away on a work trip and took a conscious decision to ease off on the diet. Had burger for dinner one night, ice cream for pudding the next, had a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch one day. Had a few chocolates along the way.

Weighed myself the day after I got back and I’d lost 1.5 pounds.

How can this have happened? Makes me want to chuck the diet altogether (though I know that’s not sensible)

Sorry for the typo in the title 🤦🏻‍♀️

At only 1.5 pounds I wouldn't read too much into it. My weight fluctuates by up to 3 pounds literally day to day.

No scientific basis- but I think the change is good.
You also may have been more active?

Harsh! 😂 I’d genuinely not budged at all for weeks though…

It takes time for your weight to catch up with your diet. Maybe the impact of your calorie counting has just started to happen and it coincides with the work trip?

How do you mean by the change?

I thought of activity but (for various reasons) it was actually quite sedentary

The change in eating habits.
Breaks the routine a bit .
But- no theory behind it.

Maybe you were dehydrated

I think @CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment was right. 🙁 I’ve put on another three pounds 🙁🙁🙁

It's so hard isn't it, wanting to lose weight but also enjoy yourself and have a life! I'd try to drink a lot of water and go for a walk to get back on track Smile
