I’ve lost 15 pounds!

Just wanting to put it out there. I’m very self conscious about weight, not something I have the ability to discuss with friends lightly. First time losing weight post baby.

Gained 4.5 stone 😱

Started at 215 lbs and now 200. Have a long way to go but I can see a normal human shape appearing. I had genuinely become spherical and that’s not something I’ve ever had to contend with in my life. Just seeing a waist is no encouraging.

Well done! Keep going!

Brilliant. Keep it up.

Whoop! I’ve just done 7 kegs, feel fabulous!

Well done, that's great work. You have evry right to feel proud of yourself.

I've been gradually putting on weight since baby no 2 and after a lot of up and down last year I decided to really get back on track with healthy eating and tracking food today.

May I ask how you've managed to shed the weight..any particular tips?
I'm quite keen to try 5:2 as well but want to get eating more healthily overall first, cutting down sugar, bread, pasta etc and upping protein.

Oh and also to stop hoovering up kids' leftovers all the time!

Thanks all. I feel like once I get close to 190lb the scale of the task won’t feel so huge.

I have a flat-ish stomach at 160 lbs and don’t feel like a beast at that weight (have big boobs and a big bum). Nowhere near my dream weight but I don’t hate my body at that weight. So once I reach 190lb (in the not too distant future) I will “only” have a goal of 2 stone weight loss. Which doesn’t seem gargantuan.

Will reassess from there.

I’m not going to say I’m doing it 100% “right “ but happy to share what has got me results (very early days but still).

It’s very boring but I have compiled a list of low ish calorie meals which I just rotate. But the key is I bloody love each meal.

Breakfast - egg white omelettes with spinach and ham with hot sauce of choice, a very aesthetic smoothie bowl, Chinese savoury porridge with chilli oil, a very non authentic shaskuka, parfait with low fat yoghurt.

Lunch
Nicoise salad, sweet potato jackets with spicy baked beans, open chicken sandwich on Warburton thin bread, scrambled eggs, really yummyily cooked chicken breast with caeser salad-esque accompaniments. I tend to eat these with a yummy salad I meal prep. We’re talking mixed leaves, sweetcorn, olives, jalapeños, shredded carrot, diced tomato, diced cucumber, red onion, deseeded chilli. Use raita as a dressing. Gives Pizza Hut salad bar vibes.

DInner
Schwarma has been a god send. Dh has been a very supportive by bbqing our marinated chicken and it is just gorgeous. I asked the local kebab for their chilli sauce recipe and use this a dressing. It’s mostly chillis and tomatoes with a bit of oil. We rotate seasonings - tandoori (genuinely tastes like takeaway), peri peri. I mostly have this with salad or sweet potatoes if I need the carb. Chicken mince lettuce wraps dipped in fish sauce is gorgeous, Vietnamese spring rolls with various things to dip it in, chicken and prawn stir fry minus noodles, roast chicken with vegetables (have to add butter).

Snacks
I have discovered pickled cucumbers, onions etc really satiate my cravings for savoury food. Low calorie fruits or a green smoothie. 1/2 scrambled eggs.

If I’ve eaten one of higher calories breakfasts I try to adjust lunch, dinner accordingly.

The only exercise I do is swimming twice a week and daily dog walks. Will go to gym when I feel less self conscious.

Oh and I do tend to eat in a 18:6 pattern. And stopped milky coffees, make my own iced tea with stevia.

Hope that helps.

I think finding really tasty, low fat condiments has been helpful. Like making the green chutney from Indian takeaways. Chimichirri is another one. Just packs in flavour but without the fat of mayo, caeser dressings. Love Peri Peri sauce as well.

Sorry for poor grammar typing on mobile with one hand (dog is cuddling up to me and it’s too cute to reposition myself).

And just to add to the above, I’m just really motivated right now. When I’m big I become a recluse. I miss getting dressed up and going out to dinner for eg. I want my baby to know that version of me.

I’ve written out a list of things I’m looking forward to doing again once I’ve shifted the weight (beach days here I come).

@Corianm
Thanks for sharing. Some great sounding food and things I might try!
I made salmon with roasted tonatoes, herbs and lemon for lunch, with a salad (no dressing needed as had the juices from the roasting pot).

We had at nice lean turkey mince stir fry tonight thanks to my DH (main cook and trained chef... I'm lucky but also he's not generally a fan of cooking in any sort of low fat way!). I went heavy on the veg and didn't have any rice. I think I'm actually starting to feel better already for massively cutting down on bread, rice, pasta and also sugary things.

I too am motivated by feeling better and having more energy for myself and kids. I do a similar amount of exercise as you.

CanIbeRio · 11/06/2024 23:15

I've dropped 9kg since mid March.

I love my weekends - a glass of wine (or 2 or 3)!! and 2 lovely meals Friday and Saturday....might be curry, chilli with cheese and tacos, pan fried seabass... whatever i fancy within reason (no pizza or Maccies though!!). The trade off is being very strict Monday - Thursday......following Slimming Word SP Regime - speed/protein foods only and 2 portions of cereal a day. That means lunch and dinner with meat and veg only and no carbs. Also no treats Mon-Thurs so no choc, no biscuits, no crisps etc. (Although I do pop the odd choc button)!! It's working for me. Good luck to all!

CanIbeRio · 11/06/2024 23:16

I also walk approx 45 mins a day too

nzeire · 15/06/2024 11:20

High protein breakfast (at midday), I have a 7 hour eat window

vreakfast is, frozen raspberries, chia seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, yogurt, honey and cinnamon. Can’t start day without it now, crunchy and delicious

spicy tomato and lentil soups, filling, delicious and few calories

protein and vegetables for dinner
