Top tips for losing weight

I need to lose as much weight as I can over the next two weeks for a weigh in. I have been calorie counting for months and already lost a fair bit but seem to have temporarily slowed down. What can I do to kick start it again? I am eating within my calorie allowance but would like all other top tips.

-should I be drinking more water or less? I worry drinking more could mean retaining water weight!
-would exercise help )or hinder by gaining muscle?)
-should I cut out carbs or eat less?

The answer is to keep things slow and steady. It’s a weigh in, not a race or competition and any weight lost in a hurried, unsustainable manner will just go on again as quickly as it went off.

By restricting water the only thing that you are going to achieve is dehydration and a falsely low reading. You have to remember that you are losing weight for yourself and your health - not just to get a ‘nicer’ reading on the scales.

You’re not gonna gain muscles in two weeks. But if you are sedentary and start exercising it can lead to some initial water retention

You're not going to gain muscle in two weeks and exercise tends to mean water retention.

I'd go back to basics and look where you have perhaps become a bit lax with counting/weighing out foods etc

Agree with PP, go back to basics, calorie count carefully. Get basic regular exercise, nothing extreme.

Perhaps look again at what you are eating. Switch from white bread/pasta/rice/couscous to wholegrain. Within your daily calories, eat slightly more protein and veg.

But if everything is going in the right direction, don't stress yourself.

As others said if you go hard on exercise you will retain water but that’s not a bad thing though you are unlikely to gain muscle in 2 weeks. And muscle weighs the same as fat it just takes up less space on your body

don’t avoid water though, stay hydrated. Water weight isn’t fat and we all need water in our bodies so I wouldn’t focus on that side at all that’s unnecessary

Reducing carbs can help reduce water retention but I would just look at your diet and cut out the sugar you don’t need, fill yourself up on volume and protein where you can
