When does your mind catch up with your body?

Over the last 2 years I’ve managed to lose 71lbs - from 13st11 down to 8st10 presently. I’ve hovered around this weight for a few weeks now.

I know I’ve lost weight because I need much smaller clothes but in the mirror I really can’t SEE IT.

I guess I just always thought being under nine stone I’d feel slim and confident to have my legs and arms out. My stomach is completely flat now which I love but I’m 33 so don’t have much need to flash it anymore! Haha

At 5’4 and wondering how much more I need to lose to get there / if i’ll ever get there!

I eat in a cal deficit, smash 10k steps a day and gym 3x a week but the losses seem to have stalled so maybe that’s why i’m feeling a little deflated. Does anyone else feel this? Does your mind catch up or is it a forever thing? x x

Hey! I've lost less than you (just over 40lbs) but I think what you're describing is similar to what's happened to me too... and what that was was body dysmorphia. I've felt more confident after losing 10 lbs than after losing 40... I think it's a mental thing and I've been going to therapy actually to help it. By the sounds of it you keep very fit and healthy and you've lost enough, you probably wouldn't want to try to lose anymore as things might get a bit unhealthy?
Things that helped me: 1. trying on old clothes that are way too big 2, taking photos and videos of myself at home doing things like the dishes, folding laundry, working out etc. It gives you a birds-eye view of yourself and takes you away from the scrutinising of the mirror. 3. I also removed mirrors for a wee while to stop the constant body checking 4. Getting some perspective with someone close to you.

But honestly the most helpful thing I've one is doing CBT for body dysmorphia and therapy. I feel so much better now!

Good luck!
