How did you decide to start weight loss injections?

Hi
I'm starting to think I might do this. I've tried dieting for years and years and I can't sustain it. I have to be really strict to lose even a small amount.
My brain is constantly thinking about food.

I need to do something but normally not someone who takes medications so I'm feeling a bit nervous. Also the serious side effects sound daunting.

I'd really like to know how others made their decision, maybe it will give me clarity.
Thank you

Not injections but tablets. I had been tracking my weight and exercise for roughly 3 years and felt something wasn’t quite adding up. During covid I would have to exercise 5-7 days a week and really manage my food to still only lose 1lb if I was lucky. I did lose weight but it was exceptionally slow and against what the hours of research and googling was suggesting I would lose if I followed all the typical and safe guidance (track calories, get heart rate up 5 times a week 30 mins eat in moderation etc). Yes there were periods of inactivity when I fell off the bandwagon such as going on holiday couple of times a year, but no more than what I felt was ‘average’ compared to the next person. I wrote everything down and took it to my doctor. I explained that I had genuinely tried (which I had and did have evidence to show) but it took me double if not triple the work of women similarly shaped, weight and height to lose weight. It was a relief going to the doctor as it was becoming emotionally difficult too.

The tablets have still been gradual loss but it’s been consistently downwards since I started taking them. My fear was (and still is) what happens when I stop taking them. Luckily so far, I have had long gaps 2-3 weeks of not taking them and have either maintained the weight or if I’m been a lazy sod and not exercised as much, gain a 2lbs or so over a 4 week period. This comes back off once I am active again.

so I fully believe that you MUST make lifestyle changes and not just depend on the injections or tablets.

I definitely eat less, smaller portions, more active regularly throughout the week and make conscious choices not go overboard and look after myself. I am hopeful when I stop the tablets the changes will work in my favour. I feel so much better and happier although there is still a long way to go.

Maintained healthy weight into my 40s. Traumatic time and I put on weight. Failure to lose weight after multiple diets, restricting food to only one meal a day, calorie counting, exercise etc etc. Miserable existence and basically gave up and became a binge eater with a feeling of futility.

Something had to change.

I've lost 15kg in 9 weeks. I've stopped binging and am now doing healthy eating (as I've done before) but this time weight falling off and I'm not miserable. I don't feel the need to punish myself with months and months of miserably existing. Very happy with outcome.

You will read lots of posts from people almost angry with the success of this and wishing failure upon us...Not sure why others feel so triggered by a successful weight loss drug but hey...I don't need their permission or agreement.

I spent so long researching and one dad had had a guys full of literally looking at my gut! I ordered them on the last but one day of my holiday and they arrived the day after I got back. Started straight away and haven’t looked back…. 20lb down in 5 weeks and I’m no longer smothered by my own boobs when I go to sleep! Feel free to inbox me for a referral code. Best decision I’ve made after spending close to 30 years loathing my reflection

Nearly 7 years ago I lost 2 stone doing WW it took a full year and I was being very strict and exercising a lot. During lockdown I put some back on and soon after I started taking some meds and my weight crept up and up so ended up a stone heavier than when I began. I can’t stop the meds yet but my weight was being to affect my fitness. I couldn’t face WW style system again so opted to take Mounjaro. I have done 5 weeks and lost 20lbs. As others will say the”food noise” has gone. I don’t want to eat sweet things and as it is so expensive I am not tempted to cheat.
I already had a healthy diet(vegetarian) and don’t drink so it was snacking that was my downfall. I have had zero side effects, so far I am more than happy still have approximately 4stone to go.

I am on a NHS tier 3 weight management programme wait list since May, having tried to be referred for around a year. My BMI is 35, I have high blood pressure - I phoned on Friday to check progress and was told that the wait list is around a year...I have yoyo dieted all my adult life, put on far too much weight in lockdown and that combined with peri menopause has made it just too hard to do it on my own.. the final straw was seeing someone I vaguely know looking amazing having lost around three stone.

Ordered on Friday, started on Saturday, currently feel a bit tired, but pleased I've taken responsibility for myself in this way.

I was very, very nervous before injecting - it was a piece of piss.

Little interest in food, already feel a difference.
