Dealing with weight gain and not being a slave to the scales

I have successfully lost weight on WW ( six stone when at target weight) and I have been off track a little and put some back on. I know I have put it on by the fit and feel of my clothes. I accept that I have put it on and I am now in a much better place in terms of dealing with it and being back on track. I am proud of myself too for not weighing myself since summer, so I don’t know how many pounds I have put on. This will be my third ‘slim summer’,.My question is how do you deal with weight gain when you are on a weight loss journey?

First, you acknowledge and accept that, from time-to-time, it will happen. It's inevitable in some circumstances, e.g. going on holiday, being away from home and not in charge of cooking etc.

Second, you deal with as soon as you can - by identifying what has caused the gain. You'll know what it is, having been so successful in losing the weight in the first place.

Third, be ruthlessly strict for a period of time after said gain.

And finally, instead of becoming a slave to the scales, you gauge it by the fit of your clothes - as you are doing now. If a pair of jeans, say, is suddenly too tight, keep trying them on until they fit properly.
