Online pharmacy

My BMI is 29.2 (5'11" and 14st 13lbs). As I am not in the obese range, I don't meet the strict NHS criteria for wegovy/Saxenda etc. I can pay for this via an online pharmacy but if I do order online, do I need a GP letter/evidence that I am obese? Because obviously I don't have that. Is it just a simple online transaction? Do I get 'support' via the online pharmacy? I've never done anything like this before.

I've tried to lose the weight myself, but it's bloody hard. I just don't want to put myself in the obese category just to meet the NHS requirements. And even if I was in the obese category, what happens with NHS approved medicine/support when I re-enter the Overweight category, does the medication stop as I no longer meet their criteria?

I’ve used medixlife.com a couple of times, and it’s been a smooth experience for me. The ordering process was straightforward, and I got my delivery pretty quickly. They have a decent selection, and I found their customer service helpful when I had a question. Of course, I always double-check everything before ordering, but so far, I’ve had no issues. Definitely worth considering if you're looking for a reliable option.

@cabbagenotpatchesDon’t use the website the previous poster has linked, it’s not a UK regulated online pharmacy.

You seem confused about the prescribing criteria. It is the same criteria whether it’s private via an online pharmacy or via the NHS. To qualify for a prescription you need a BMI of 30 plus, or a BMI of 27 plus with at least one weight related health condition. Or a BMI of 27 plus whilst being one of a list of ethnicities where obese is classified as starting from 27.

For a properly registered legally operating UK based online pharmacy, who have a GPhC registration number, you would need to complete an online consultation. You fill out your medical details and upload photos of your figure, or have a video consultation where they can see you stand on scales and see your figure. The prescribing pharmacist and/or doctor will then review and approve your application and prescribe, if you meet the criteria. It’s got nothing to do with your NHS GP, they aren’t involved in the decision making process. If you are prescribed, then the pharmacy will simply notify your GP of the prescription so it can be added to your health record.

If you are approved to start the medication, you then can continue to take it until you are a healthy BMI. That’s the whole point of the medication, it would be illogical to stop prescribing the moment you drop out of the obese category.

All online pharmacies will let you email or message their team if you have questions. Some offer more coaching and more interactive support.

If you think you qualify, please use a proper online pharmacy - have a look at https://monj.co.uk/mounjaro-price-comparison-by-monj/ for a list of regulated UK pharmacies. The list is for Mounjaro but they will all offer Wegovy too. Saxenda is not widely available.
